Here at Pheronews we are very strict about publication deadlines. When May 31st goes by and we still haven’t sent out the May edition, we change the name to the June edition. I thought about calling it the “Very Late May News”, but I Just couldn’t do it with a clear conscience, and so I sadly announce there will not be a May issue of the Pheromone News, at least not this year anyway.

What are your short term goals (the next year) and are your long term goals (the next ten years)?

— My short term and long term goals are the same in romance. I just want to feel wanted.

— Short term and long term goals: I’m looking for an improved social life, to meet people.

— Short term: To strengthen my marriage (it’s already good, but we’ve got another 50 or so years to go!). To have more confidence in my new endeavors, and in my old ones, as well.
Long term: To set a good example for my 3 year old daughter. To maintain a positive outlook, a happy marriage, and strong friendships. To meet new friends, with the ability to discern from the bloodsucker-types of people.

— Short term: I want guys to approach me and notice me more. I know that once they get to know me, they’ll love me, but I’m hoping phero’s will get me past that first hump.
Long term: Romantically, I might or might not find a permanent guy by then. I’m in no hurry.

— Short term: I’m looking for increased friendliness of people around me, especially at work.
Long term: I suppose a committed relationship is in the works.

— Short term: Get through each day one at a time. Practicing patience in waiting for what I believe to be the only result in a situation.
Long term: To be sucessful with my short term goal and continue on in an exciting fresh, new, second half of my life.

— Long term goal: I am still hoping to marry the man I think is my soulmate. The problem is he is married to someone else. She’s the control freak type. If in 10 years I am not married to him, then I hope I get over him.

— Short term: I am looking to date a number of people in hopes of finding “Mr right”. I am also looking to make more female friends, spend more time with family, get more organized at home & spend time developing some creative talent (drawing & painting).
Long term: I would like to be in a loving committed marriage, be financially better off (saving for retirement) & hopefully will have grown as an artist.

— Short term: To get a little bit more of a commitment on our relationship from my partner. Long term: I’d like to see my partner and I getting married.

— Short term: Make new friends and a new romantic relationship as well.
Long term: Over the next 10 years I’d like to see myself happily married and pretty successful in work and relationships with family, friends and co-workers.

— Short term: I’d like to meet someone I can get into a committed BF/GF relationship with. Not marriage- but monogamous and committed. I got out of a relationship like that about a year and a half ago.

Q and A:

Q: Why do you always mention that guys need to smile and be friendly when using pheromones?

A: The reason for the smiling, helpfulness etc. is the problem men often face with certain pheromone products (generally ones high in the pheromone androstenone), and that is coming off as more intimidating than they would without pheromones. For example when I am at the gym and a “buff” muscleman walks in by himself, everyone gets a bit quiet and waits to see whether this guy is going to be friendly or not. If he were a little guy everyone would be offering him advice and welcoming him to the gym, but with the huge guy it gets quiet and everyone is a bit uneasy. BUT if this guy comes up to us and introduces himself, and generally shows himself to be friendly, we will love the guy and want to be his friend; we will want him on OUR side. That is the way it is with power of any kind. It is an extra burden in a way. For the most part you have to go that extra distance to show people that you are on their side or would like to be. Otherwise you will feel more isolated with the aNONE (androstenone-containing) products.

Lately some men are getting away from aNONE altogether, especially young guys and bodybuilder types. Age is also an issue as the older you get, the more you seem to gain benefit from aNONE.

Personally, I like aNONE products, but you have to be careful not to overdo it, and be willing/able to put the extra effort into compensating for the potential alpha-male problems.

Feature Article: Where do pheromones come from?

Most of the technical information contained in this brief article either comes directly from James Kohl’s book, “The Scent of Eros”, or can certainly be found there. Have a look.

What are pheromones, and where do they come from anyway? Most of us are only vaguely aware that they are some kind of odiferous substance produced by the body that seems to attract and/or sexually arouse others, and that is about it. In an earlier issue of the Pheromone News, I attempted to describe research that has shown that human beings as well as animals possess a special smelling apparatus located in the nose but yet separate from our normal smelling organ, and which is used specifically for detecting pheromones. But how are these pheromones made, and how do they get to the nose of their target?

In both humans and animals hormones regularly break down into various other substances, which are finally acted upon by friendly bacteria in or on the body to produce what we now refer to as pheromones. I would guess there are currently hundreds of known pheromones with countless functions, but in short, any substance which is used by the body to communicate or otherwise stimulate others via the VNO (pheromone detecting organ in the nose) can be called a pheromone by definition. The most well-known spot for the production of pheromones in humans is right on our own skin. Hormones and their metabolites (broken down versions) are excreted out through special sweat glands on the skin, where they meet up with certain sex-specific bacteria that actually make the pheromones and determine how we “smell” to the world. To a large extent though, these pheromones are undectable in the usual sense of the word, even though they have such a dramatic effect on our feelings and behavior. From sweat with the help of our hair these pheromones evaporate and become a gas in which form they can easily travel through the air to the noses of others. But this is only one way that pheromones travel. In a slightly different form, pheromones travel together with the numerous skin cells we lose every day.

According to James Kohl, the average person “sheds nearly forty million (skin) cells a day in an invisible airborne cloud of particles that contains sex pheromones..” Well, you probably won’t find this a very romantic image to dwell on, but if it is true and pheromones are really as powerful as believed, at levels far far below what we can consciously detect, this may give a whole new meaning to the old adage “love is blind”. Is it possible that we are being led around by the nose at least as far as romance goes? I am going to belabor this point for a moment, not because it is so hard to understand, but because it is so hard to believe. If the theory is true, than we don’t actually have to be able to smell someone to be blown away by their pheromones, which means that the whole pheromone effect must be hard-wired into our brain, ie: it can bypass our conscious mind. From a distance further away than we can clearly make out someone’s face we may be getting invisible sexy signals from that person and never realizing how.

But sweat and our skin cell cloud are not the only way we communicate pheromonally. pheromones as well as hormones themselves are present in great amount in human saliva, and therefore a major factor in determining the smell of our breath. And, as is the case at all pheromone launching sites, these pheromones are not limited to sex pheromones. I expect the parents and especially mothers among you will not be surprised when I tell you that I find the smell of my small childrens’ breath literally intoxicating. I still pause occasionally by my four year old son’s bed to catch a whiff before turning in for the night. Not exactly a scientific study, but I don’t think anyone would argue with me for saying that parent-child attraction is also quite probably pheromonally regulated.

I have an amazing story to tell. I tried the pheromones on myself and went on a 3 hour flight to a neighboring country. Surprisingly an undergraduate female sat next to me. Of course I am a male. This is an economy airline that allows free sitting and no service on board. The leading stewardess came to me and talked to me for almost an hour.
