all brands, even some "specially modified" forms... did observe a moderately useful
antifungal property at higher levels where it fought with my onchomycosis (toe jam fungus)... eventually the oncho
figured out how to defeat the olive leaf extract and we were back to base one. I'd never use it as a replacement
for an antibiotic in an infection... massively overhyped stuff IMO... there IS an interesting, genuinely useful
component of olives, that's an olive fruit extract called hydroxytyrosol... the stuff that makes extra virgin olive
oil peppery... I believe it is packaged as Olivenol, probably other brands of the same thing around too... probably
inhibits LDL (low density lipoprotein) oxidation, which stops the plaque build up on the arterial linings.... why
olive consuming populations have less cardio vascular disease that the meat-n-taters crowd.... dunno why, a lot of
mediterranean foods have important protective substances in them, especially tomatos (lycopene) and pomegranates (a
range of polyphenols like red wines, but more concentrated)
