Default The Best songs in the World.

visit-red-300x50PNG
In our opinion.Here\'s my first:

Thank you Bee Gees!!

MASSACHUSETTS

Feel I\'m goin\' back to Massachusetts,
Something\'s telling me I must go home.
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
The day I left her standing on her own.

Tried to hitch a ride to San Francisco,
Gotta do the things I wanna do.
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
They brought me back to see my way with you.

Talk about the life in Massachusetts,
Speak about the people I have seen,
And the lights all went out in Massachusetts
And Massachusetts is one.. place.. I have........ seen.

I will remember Massachusetts...
I will remember Massachusetts...
I will remember Massachusetts...
I will remember Massachusetts...
I will remember Massachusetts...

A DAY IN THE LIFE

I read the news today, oh boy,
About a lucky man who made a grade,
And though the news was rather sad,
Well, I just had to laugh.
I saw the photograph.

He blew his mind out in a car,
He didn\'t notice that the lights have changed,
A crowd of people stood and stared,
They\'ve seen his face before,
Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords.

I saw a film today, oh boy,
The English army had just won the war,
A crowd of people turned away,
But I just had a look,
Having read the book, I\'d like to turn you on...

Woke up, fell out of bed,
dragged a comb across my head,
found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
and looking up I noticed I was late.

Found my coat and grabbed my hat,
made the bus in seconds flat,
found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
and somebody spoke and I went into a dream

I read the news today, oh boy,
four thousand holes in Blackburn Lancashire,
and though the holes were rather small,
they had to count them all,
now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall,
I\'d love to turn you on.

Thank you Mr Tambourine man, AKA Mr Zimmerman, AKA Bob Dylan

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I\'m not sleepy and there is no place I\'m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I\'ll come followin\' you.

Though I know that evenin\'s empire has returned into sand,
Vanished from my hand,
Left me blindly here to stand but still not sleeping.
My weariness amazes me, I\'m branded on my feet,
I have no one to meet
And the ancient empty street\'s too dead for dreaming.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I\'m not sleepy and there is no place I\'m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I\'ll come followin\' you.

Take me on a trip upon your magic swirlin\' ship,
My senses have been stripped, my hands can\'t feel to grip,
My toes too numb to step, wait only for my boot heels
To be wanderin\'.
I\'m ready to go anywhere, I\'m ready for to fade
Into my own parade, cast your dancing spell my way,
I promise to go under it.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I\'m not sleepy and there is no place I\'m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I\'ll come followin\' you.

Though you might hear laughin\', spinnin\', swingin\' madly across the sun,
It\'s not aimed at anyone, it\'s just escapin\' on the run
And but for the sky there are no fences facin\'.
And if you hear vague traces of skippin\' reels of rhyme
To your tambourine in time, it\'s just a ragged clown behind,
I wouldn\'t pay it any mind, it\'s just a shadow you\'re
Seein\' that he\'s chasing.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I\'m not sleepy and there is no place I\'m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I\'ll come followin\' you.

Then take me disappearin\' through the smoke rings of my mind,
Down the foggy ruins of time, far past the frozen leaves,
The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach,
Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow.
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free,
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands,
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves,
Let me forget about today until tomorrow.

Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
I\'m not sleepy and there is no place I\'m going to.
Hey! Mr. Tambourine Man, play a song for me,
In the jingle jangle morning I\'ll come followin\' you.

Thanks a lot, They Might Be Giants!

BIRDHOUSE IN YOUR SOUL

I\'m your only friend
I\'m not your only friend
But I\'m a little glowing friend
But really I\'m not actually your friend
But I am

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I\'m the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

I have a secret to tell
From my electrical well
It\'s a simple message and I\'m leaving out the whistles and bells
So the room must listen to me
Filibuster vigilantly
My name is blue canary one note* spelled l-i-t-e
My story\'s infinite
Like the Longines Symphonette it doesn\'t rest

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I\'m the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

I\'m your only friend
I\'m not your only friend
But I\'m a little glowing friend
But really I\'m not actually your friend
But I am

There\'s a picture opposite me
Of my primitive ancestry
Which stood on rocky shores and kept the beaches shipwreck free
Though I respect that a lot
I\'d be fired if that were my job
After killing Jason off and countless screaming Argonauts
Bluebird of friendliness
Like guardian angels its always near

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch
Who watches over you
Make a little birdhouse in your soul
Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I\'m the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

(and while you\'re at it
Keep the nightlight on inside the
Birdhouse in your soul)

Not to put too fine a point on it
Say I\'m the only bee in your bonnet
Make a little birdhouse in your soul

Blue canary in the outlet by the light switch (and while you\'re at it)
Who watches over you (keep the nightlight on inside the)
Make a little birdhouse in your soul (birdhouse in your soul)

Not to put too fine a point on it

And another one from TMBG:

ISTANBUL (NOT CONTSTANTINOPLE)

Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it\'s Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it\'s Turkish delight on a moonlit night

Every gal in Constantinople
Lives in Istanbul, not Constantinople
So if you\'ve a date in Constantinople
She\'ll be waiting in Istanbul

Even old New York was once New Amsterdam
Why they changed it I can\'t say
People just liked it better that way

So take me back to Constantinople
No, you can\'t go back to Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works?
That\'s nobody\'s business but the Turks

Istanbul (Istanbul)

Kudos to Meredith Brooks

BITCH

I hate the world today
You\'re so good to me, I know but I can\'t change
Tried to tell you but you looked at me like maybe I\'m an angel underneath
Innocent and sweet

Yesterday I cried
You must have been relieved to see the softer side
I can understand how you\'d be so confused
I don\'t envy you
I\'m a little bit of everything all rolled into one

I\'m a bitch
I\'m a lover
I\'m a child
I\'m a mother
I\'m a sinner
I\'m a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I\'m your hell
I\'m you dream
I\'m nothing in between
You know you wouldn\'t want it any other way

So take me as I am
This may mean you\'ll have to be a stronger man
Rest assured that when I start to make you nervous
And I\'m going to extremes
Tomorrow I will change and today won\'t mean a thing

I\'m a bitch
I\'m a lover
I\'m a child
I\'m a mother
I\'m a sinner
I\'m a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I\'m your hell
I\'m you dream
I\'m nothing in between
You know you wouldn\'t want it any other way

Just when you think you got me figured out
The season\'s already changing
I think it\'s cool you do what you do
And don\'t try to save me

I\'m a bitch
I\'m a lover
I\'m a child
I\'m a mother
I\'m a sinner
I\'m a saint
I do not feel ashamed
I\'m your hell
I\'m you dream
I\'m nothing in between
You know you wouldn\'t want it any other way
I\'m a bitch
I\'m a tease
I\'m a goddess on my knees
When you\'re hurt
When you suffer
I\'m your angel undercover
I\'ve been numb
I\'m revived
Can\'t say I\'m not alive
You know I wouldn\'t want it ANY other way

(released in 1972)

Mrs. Robinson

(From the motion picture The Graduate)
P. Simon, 1968

And here\'s to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know, wo wo wo
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray, hey hey hey
Hey hey hey

We\'d like to know a little bit about you for our files
We\'d like to help you learn to help yourself
Look around you, all you see are sympathetic eyes
Stroll around the grounds until you feel at home

And here\'s to you, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know, wo wo wo
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray, hey hey hey
Hey hey hey

Hide it in a hiding place where no one ever goes
Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes
It\'s a little secret, just the Robinsons\' affair
Most of all you\'ve got to hide it from the kids

Coo coo ca-choo, Mrs. Robinson
Jesus loves you more than you will know, wo wo wo
God bless you please, Mrs. Robinson
Heaven holds a place for those who pray, hey hey hey
Hey hey hey

Sitting on a sofa on a Sunday fternoon
Going to the candidate\'s debate
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you\'ve got to choose
Every way you look at it you lose

Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio
Our nation turns its lonely eyes to you, woo woo woo
What\'s that you say, Mrs. Robinson
Joltin\' Joe has left and gone away, hey hey hey
Hey hey hey

My gosh!!That was super!!

Here\'s another one I love.

DON\'T NEED YOU TO (Samantha Mumba)

I don\'t need you to tell me I\'m pretty to make me feel beautiful
I don\'t need you to give me your strength to make me feel I\'m strong
I\'ve got all of the strength that I need here inside my own two hands
All that I want is your love and respect for who I am
What I really need comes from deep inside of me

Don\'t need you to tell me I\'m pretty to make me feel beautiful
Don\'t need you to make me strong ‘cause I\'m strong all on my own
Doesn\'t come from outside
This beauty I know
It comes from inside my soul

Don\'t need you to tell me I\'m pretty

I don\'t need you to believe in me to make know I\'m worth believing in
I don\'t need you to lift me up high to know I can stand tall (I can stand tall)
I can stand my own ground I can stand proud upon my own two feet
Don\'t have to be part of somebody else to be complete
What I really need comes from deep inside of me

Don\'t need you to tell me I\'m pretty to make me feel beautiful
Don\'t need you to lift me up I can stand up on my own
Doesn\'t come from outside
This beauty I know
It comes from inside my soul

Don\'t need to come to you for confirmation
Because I\'ve finally come to this revelation
What I really need (What I really need)
Gonna find inside of me (inside of me)
Not in somebody else
Respect comes when you respect yourself

Don\'t need you to tell me I\'m pretty to make me feel beautiful
Don\'t need you to make me strong ‘cause I\'m strong all on my own
Doesn\'t come from outside
This beauty I know
It comes from inside my soul

Don\'t need you to tell me I\'m pretty to make me feel beautiful
Don\'t need you to lift me up I can stand up on my own
Doesn\'t come from outside
This beauty I know
It comes from inside my soul

Don\'t need you to tell me I\'m pretty to know I\'m beautiful

Default Gotta love Sarah!

Oh, I LOVE Sarah McLachlan\'s music! I could spend all day reciting her lyrics, but I\'ll spare you. Here\'s one of my favorite, lyrically...

Path of Thorns, Album: Solace

I knew you wanted to tell me
In your voice there was something wrong
But if you would turn your face away from me
You cannot tell me you\'re so strong....
Just let me ask of you one small thing
As we have shared so many tears
With forever our dreams we planned a whole life long
Now are scattered on the wind....

Chorus:
In the terms of endearment
In the terms of the life that you love
In the terms of the years that pass you by
In the terms of the reasons why

Through the years I\'ve grown to love you
Through your commitment to most would offend
But I stuck by you holding on with my foolish pride
waiting for you to give in....
You never really tried or so it seems
I\'ve had more than myself to blame
I\'ve had enough of trying everything
And this time it is the end....

(Chorus)

There\'s no more coming back this way
The path is overgrown and strewn with thorns
They\'ve torn the life blood from your naked eyes
Cast aside to be forlorn....

(Chorus)
Funny, how it seems that all I\'ve tried to do
seemed to make no difference to you at all....

Default Fighter

Here\'s another favorite artist of mine. Christina Aguilera takes a lot of heat, but she writes her own songs and lyrics, and she has a range that is out of this world. Plus, listening to what she has to say in her songs, it\'s eerie how much I agree with nearly everything she produces. I was in love with *this* song LONG before it was released as a single...

Fighter, Album: Stripped

Well I thought I knew you
Thinking that you were true
Guess I, I couldn\'t trust
Called your bluff
time is up
cause I\'ve had enough

You were there by my side
always down for the ride
but your joyride
just came down in flames
cause your deeds
sold me out in shame

After all of the stealing, your cheating
you probably think
that I hold resentment for you
but...you\'re wrong

Cause if it wasn\'t for all that
you tried to do
I wouldn\'t know
just how capable
I am to pull through

so I wanna say thank you

CHORUS:
Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
It makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

Never saw it coming
all of your backstabbing
just so you could
cash in on my good thing
before I realized your game

I heard your going round
playing the victim now
but don\'t even begin
feeling I\'m the one to blame
cause you dug your own grave

After all of the fights and the lies
guess you wanted to harm me
but that won\'t work any more
no more...it\'s over

Cause if it wasn\'t for
all of your torture
I wouldn\'t know how
to be this way now and
never back down

so I wanna say thank you

CHORUS

Thanks Mr Sinatra.

SOMETHING STUPID

I know I stand in line, until you think you have the time
To spend an evening with me
And if we go someplace to dance, I know that there\'s a chance
You won\'t be leaving with me

And afterwards we drop into a quiet little place
And have a drink or two
And then I go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid
Like: \"I love you\"

I can see it in your eyes, that you despise the same old lies
You heard the night before
And though it\'s just a line to you, for me it\'s true
It never seemed so right before

I practice every day to find some clever lines to say
To make the meaning come through
But then I think I\'ll wait until the evening gets late
And I\'m alone with you

The time is right your perfume fills my head, the stars get red
And oh the night\'s so blue
And then I go and spoil it all, by saying something stupid
Like: \"I love you\"
(\"I love you, I love you,...\")

BOYZ II MEN \"Doin\' Just Fine\"

There was a time when I thought life was over and out
When you went away from me
My dying heart made it hard to breathe
Would sit in my room
Because I didn\'t want to have to go out
And see you walking by
One look and I\'d break right down and cry
Now you say that you\'ve made a big mistake
Never meant to take your love away
But you can save your tired apologies
\'Cause it may seem hard to believe
But

[Chorus: ]
I\'m doin\' just fine
Getting along very well
Without you in my life
I don\'t need you in my life
I\'m doin\' just fine
Time made me stronger
You\'re no longer on my mind

You were my earth
My number one priority
I gave me love to only you
Anything you\'d ask of me
I would do
But somewhere down the road
You felt a change in the weather
And told me that you had to journey on
A kiss in the wind and your love was gone
Now you say you never meant to play your games
Girl, don\'t you know it\'s far too late
Because you let our love just fall apart
You no longer have a heart

[Chorus ]

When you said goodbye
I felt so all alone
There were times at night I couldn\'t sleep
My heart was much to weak to make it on my own
Baby after all the misery
And pain you put me through
So unfair to me girl
You\'re no longer my world
And I ain\'t missin\' you at all

[Chorus ]
I\'m doin\' just fine

Mmmmm... B2M! &lt;sigh&gt; MAN, can they sing. Not much sexier than a man who can sing. Excuse me while I clean the drool from my keyboard.

Mother do you think they\'ll drop the bomb?
Mother do you think they\'ll like this song?
Mother do you think they\'ll try to break my balls?
Mother should I build the wall?
Mother should I run for president?
Mother should I trust the government?
Mother will they put me in the firing line?
Mother am I really dying?

Hush now baby, baby, dont you cry.
Mother\'s gonna make all your nightmares come true.
Mother\'s gonna put all her fears into you.
Mother\'s gonna keep you right here under her wing.
She wont let you fly, but she might let you sing.
Mama will keep baby cozy and warm.
Ooooh baby ooooh baby oooooh baby,
Of course mama\'ll help to build the wall.

Mother do you think she\'s good enough -- to me?
Mother do you think she\'s dangerous -- to me?
Mother will she tear your little boy apart?
Mother will she break my heart?

Hush now baby, baby dont you cry.
Mama\'s gonna check out all your girlfriends for you.
Mama wont let anyone dirty get through.
Mama\'s gonna wait up until you get in.
Mama will always find out where you\'ve been.
Mama\'s gonna keep baby healthy and clean.
Ooooh baby oooh baby oooh baby,
You\'ll always be baby to me.

Mother, did it need to be so high?

<font color=\"blue\">GOODBYE BLUE SKY</font>

\"Look mummy, there\'s an aeroplane up in the sky\"

Did you see the frightened ones?
Did you hear the falling bombs?
Did you ever wonder why we had to run for shelter when the
promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue
sky?

Did you see the frightened ones?
Did you hear the falling bombs?
The flames are all gone, but the pain lingers on.

Goodbye, blue sky
Goodbye, blue sky.
Goodbye.
Goodbye.
Goodbye.

\"The 11:15 from Newcastle is now approaching\"
\"The 11:18 arrival....\"

-------------------------------------------
this song makes cold shivers run down my back:

<font color=\"green\">WHEN THE TIGERS BROKE FREE</font>

It was just before dawn
One miserable morning in black \'forty four.
When the forward commander
Was told to sit tight
When he asked that his men be withdrawn.
And the Generals gave thanks
As the other ranks held back
The enemy tanks for a while.
And the Anzio bridgehead
Was held for the price
Of a few hundred ordinary lives.

And old King George
Sent Mother a note
When he heard that father was gone.
It was, I recall,
In the form of a scroll,
With gold leaf and all.
And I found it one day
In a drawer of old photographs, hidden away.
And my eyes still grow damp to remember
His Majesty signed
With his own rubber stamp.

It was dark all around.
There was frost in the ground
When the tigers broke free.
And no one survived
From the Royal Fusiliers Company C.
They were all left behind,
Most of them dead,
The rest of them dying.
And that\'s how the High Command
Took my daddy from me.

Default Garth Brooks

Hey X, your post reminded me of this one from Garth Brooks. I\'m not sure if it was ever released as a single, but it\'s on his Sevens album. Very haunting melody too...

Belleau Wood, Album: Sevens

Oh, the snowflakes fell in silence
Over Belleau Wood that night
For a Christmas truce had been declared
By both sides of the fight
As we lay there in our trenches
The silence broke in two
By a German soldier singing
A song that we all knew

Though I did not know the language
The song was \'Silent Night\'

Then I heard my buddy whisper,
\'All is calm and all is bright\'
Then the fear and doubt surrounded me
\'Cause I\'d die if I was wrong
But I stood up on my trench
And I began to sing along

Then across the frozen battlefield
Another\'s voice joined in
Until one by one each man became
A singer of the hymn

Then I thought that I was dreaming
For right there in my sight
Stood the German soldier
\'Neath the falling flakes of white
And he raised his hand and smiled at me
As if he seemed to say
Here\'s hoping we both live
To see us find a better way

Then the devil\'s clock struck midnight
And the skies lit up again
And the battlefield where heaven stood
Was blown to hell again

But for just one fleeting moment
The answer seemed so clear
Heaven\'s not beyond the clouds
It\'s just beyond the fear

No\' heaven\'s not beyond the clouds
It\'s for us to find it here

Love of my life, you\'ve hurt me,
You\'ve broken my heart and now you leave me,
Love of my life, can\'t you see?
Bring it back, bring it back, don\'t take it away for me,
\'cause you don\'t know what it means to me.

Love of my life don\'t leave me
You\'ve taken my love, you now desert me,
Love of my life can\'t you see,
Bring it back, bring it back,
Don\'t take it away from me beacuse you don\'t know-
what it means to me.

You won\'t remember when this is blow over
and everything\'s all by the way.
When I getolder, I will be there at you side
to remind you how I still love you, still love you.

Back, hurry back, please bring it back home to me,
\'cause you don\'t know what it means to me.
Love of my life, love of my life.
