EVERYTHING THAT\'S WRONG (Linda Eder)

Everybody needs to be with somebody
Even after all the cold hard facts are known
Like your heart will probably break
What with all that give and take
Still, you just can\'t seem to leave the thing alone

So you hold your breath
And you count to ten
And you\'re scared to death
But you close your eyes
And fall in love again
\'Cause in the middle of the night
He\'ll hold you tight
And then everything that\'s wrong
Will be all right

Now you swear you\'ll keep romance in perspective
But with love, it\'s always famine or it\'s feast
And a hungry heart forgets
Tends to minimize regrets
So as sure as there\'s a sunrise in the East

There\'s a silver moon
That your heart can\'t waste
And then pretty soon there\'s a stranger\'s kiss
That you can\'t wait to taste
‘Cause when the apple is in sight
You take a bite
Hoping everything that\'s wrong will be all right

Maybe this time jealously and fear will get the best of you
Maybe this time you will give a little more
Maybe this time you will look and find somebody who
Isn’t quite as crazy as those times before

So you try again
\'Til you get it right
And you never know when to let it go
Or when to hold on tight
But when there\'s nothing else that works
Well, love just might
So when romance comes along
We all struggle to belong
So that everything that\'s wrong
Will be all right

Another red letter day, so the pound has dropped and the children are creating
The other half ran away taking all the cash and leaving you with the lumber.
Got a pain in the chest, doctors on strike, what you need is a rest
It\'s not easy, love, but you\'ve got friends you can trust.
Friends will be friends, when you\'re in need of love they give you care and attention.
Friends will be friends, when you\'re through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hand \'cos friends will be friends, right till the end.
Now it\'s a beautiful day, the postman delivered a letter from your lover
Only a \'phone call away, you tried to track him down but somebody stole his number
As a matter of fact you\'re getting used to life without him in your way
It\'s so easy now, \'cos you got friends you can trust.
Friends will be friends, when you\'re in need of love they give you care and attention.
Friends will be friends, when you\'re through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hand \'cos friends will be friends, right till the end.
It\'s so easy now, \'cos you got friends you can trust
Friends will be friends, when you\'re in need of love they give you care and attention.
Friends will be friends, when you\'re through with life and all hope is lost.

Friends will be friends, when you\'re in need of love they give you care and attention.
Friends will be friends, when you\'re through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hand \'cos right till the end.
Friends will be friends, yeah, yeah...

Another Gray Morning - vintage James Taylor

When I feel as though my love is sinking down
The sun doesn\'t want to shine
and when I feel that I can\'t take another day
Life is unkind
I\'m frozen in time,
Then here comes another gray morning.
A not so good morning after all.
She says well what am I to do today
with too much time
and so much sorrow ...
She hears the baby waking up downstairs
She hears the foghorn calling out across the sound
The repitition in the morning air
is just too much to bear
and no one seems to care
if another day goes creeping by
empty and ashamed
like an old unwanted memory that no one will claim
The clouds put their heads on the ground
She\'s gonna have to come down.

She said move me, move me.
I\'m locked up inside.
Well I didn\'t understand her
but god knows I tried.

She said make me angry
or just make me cry

But no more gray morning
I think I\'d rather die.

(when I feel as though my love is sinking down ...)

Tenderness - Paul Simon

What can I do?
What can I do?
Much of what you say is true
And I know you see through me
But there\'s no tenderness beneath your honesty.

Right and wrong
Oh, right and wrong
they never helped us get along
you don\'t have to lie to me
Just give me some tenderness beneath your honesty

You and me were such good friends
What\'s your hurry?
You and me can make amends
I\'m not worried
I\'m not worried

Ohhh, honesty
Honesty is such a waste of energy
No you don\'t have to lie to me
Just give me some tenderness
Beneath your honesty

I say you don\'t have to lie to me ...
Just give me some tenderness.

Fortunate - Maxwell

[Verse1:]

Never seen a sun shine like this
Never seen the moon glow like this
Never seen the waterfalls like this
Never seen the lights off like this
Never dug anyone like this
Never had tasty lips to kiss
Never had someone to miss
Never wrote a song quite like this

[Chorus:]

Fortunate to have you girl,
I\'m so glad you\'re in my world,
Just as sure as the sky is blue,
I bless the day that I found you.

[Verse 2:]

Never had room service all night
Never took a trip first class flight
Never had a love affair so tight
I\'ve never felt a feeling so right
Never seen a winter so white
Never had words to recite
Never had a flame to ignite
And I never sang a song with all my might.

[chorus 2x]

Silence child hope you hear
I\'m callin out to your body
Baby you know just what to do
Close the door no interlude

[chorus 2x]

This song really caresses my neck while I\'m feasting.

Thanks Paul.

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be. Yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.

And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

Imagine there\'s no heaven,
It\'s easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...

Imagine there\'s no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you\'ll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Default DEAD SKUNK

Thank you, Loudon Wainwright III for this little ditty that always cheers me right up when I\'m down, it\'s called

Dead Skunk

Crossin\' the highway late last night
He shoulda looked left and he shoulda looked right
He didn\'t see the station wagon car
The skunk got squashed and there you are!

You got yer
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
You got yer dead skunk in the middle of the road
Stinkin\' to high Heaven!

Take a whiff on me, that ain\'t no rose!
Roll up yer window and hold yer nose
You don\'t have to look and you don\'t have to see
\'Cause you can feel it in your olfactory

You got yer
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
You got yer dead skunk in the middle of the road
Stinkin\' to high Heaven!

Yeah you got yer dead cat and you got yer dead dog
On a moonlight night you got yer dead toad frog
Got yer dead rabbit and yer dead raccoon
The blood and the guts they\'re gonna make you swoon!
You got yer
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
You got yer dead skunk in the middle of the road
Stinkin\' to high Heaven!

C\'mon stink!

You got it!
It\'s dead, it\'s in the middle
Dead skunk in the middle!
Dead skunk in the middle of the road
Stinkin\' to high heaven!
All over the road, technicolor man!
Oh, you got pollution
It\'s dead, it\'s in the middle
And it\'s stinkin\' to high, high Heaven!

Default Soup Boy

This is a beautiful little number. I believe it was created by our own FTR. It always brings tears to my eyes, it has so much meaning behind it.

I\'d like to get the big soup pot out from the cupboard, put it over your head, and then pound it with the serving spoon....BONG BONG BONG

Chorus

Soup Boy, Soup Boy
Bong Bong Bong

Soup Boy, Soup Boy
Bong Bong Bong

Soup Boy, Soup Boy
Bong Bong Bong

Yes, it really makes you think. It just allows you to stand back and look at the bigger picture. That Soup boy.....what does it all mean as he bong bong bongs on the soup pot of life? You answer me that.....what does it all mean?

:::as I continue to ponder::::

See, that\'s why the lyrics are so timeless. You can see them from so many levels and points of view.

What *I* saw was the soup boy wearing the pot on his head, and FTR banging on it--bong, bong, bong.

Such symbolism! Truly written by a genius. Will we ever be able to find all its meanings?

*sitting in awe, pondering*

Another question: Why the soup pot?

Why not a cauldron, or a dutch oven? Maybe even a roasting pan?

A careful choice was made. Why? What does it mean?

Ah, well, I can tell you why the soup pot. It is a great huge stock pot, actually, and the sides of it are not too very thick, so that when you bang on it, it produces QUITE a bong, a rich, full, resonant bong that echoes, even.

My question is, how long would we laugh once the bonging stopped and the soup pot was removed from sweetie\'s head and we watched him stagger around in the forest, dizzy from the bonging.

Soup Boy, Soup Boy,
Be my little Soup Boy...
