A Great Movie - "Secretary"

Here\'s a movie that many of you women will enjoy - if only as a fantasy of submissiveness. It really is a tender movie (even before the spankings), full of compassion for both leads.

It was in the theatres only a short while but I rented it Friday on DVD. I predict it will become a cult classic.

I was interested when I saw the previews for it, but forgot about it until a friend saw it and was telling me about it. He said there are some quite disgusting scenes of her performing self-mutilation that lasted a good 20 minutes in the first part of the movie.

Are they doing the same thing the media always does with bdsm? portray it all as the product of sick minds?

There was a bit of neurotic \"self-multilation\" in the beginning but I didn\'t see it as too gross and certainly not gratuitous. The female character was in mental pain and I, for one, felt for her. She had the strength of character to pull her self up and finally meet a man of strong will that helped her free herself of that vice.

What I liked about it was the buildup of sexual tension. You never saw them \"doing it\" in the conventional sense but what they did do was sooooooo sexy.

I picked up a few tips!

Both lead characters were a bit \"off-center\" but functional. Sweet reason is seldom entertaining and never art. The male lead was a lawyer - what more need I say?

It was nothing like the campy cartoonish \"Pink Flamingos.\" John Waters had campy down and \"Secretary\" is not very campy. I did like Water\'s \"Serial Mom\" but the lead (Kathleen Turner) looked and acted so much like my last serious lover it was uncanny (except for the murder part although I won\'t put it past her).

it was a total joke. though you have to appreciate pink flamingos cutting to he chase and showing to people having sex with a chicken in between them.

incidently, waters was trying to make the point of saying that pornos at the time were getting so ridiculous. I wonder what he thinks about them now! Half the people on reality tv end up having backgrounds in porn.

i am not into regular porn and I like the idea of amatuer porn muc better yet i haven\'t seen much of it. When i have the \'stars\' tend to make me want to vomit. any good ones you know of?

I couldn\'t agree with your more whitehall, after awhile the fake panting and yelling of \"oh yes\" along with the predone set the planning and so on its actually a big turnoff to any porn buff. Amateur stuff is good along with not so marketed branded porno aswell.

The early \"Dirty Debutante\" series had some sincere amateurs althought the guy was a creep. The blonde in DD #14 was so responsive and hungry!

The production quality in amateur videos is the limiting factor. Poor lighting, bad camera angles, inaudible or unbalanced sound, etc need great performers to make it worthwhile.

The pros can be so \"sterile\" - they certainly can\'t act and their performances tend to the clinical - one might as well watch a gynocological training film.

Waking Life was beautiful, just beautiful ... if you have the attention span it deserves; and

eXistenZ ... well, it just messed with my head, same as Naked Lunch did ... no there\'s a movie to make you think!
