Don\'t have the formula for the liquor but usually liqours are made by soaking the herb in vodka or brandy then filtering.
With damiana, that would make a bitter drink so I imagine that lots of sugar is added.
The raw herb in capsules has the greatest direct effect if you take it for a day or two or three before the event but that can get rough on the tummy. The liquid concentrates seem to be more mental in effect and weakly at that. Tea is drinkable but of limited effect. Smoking the raw leaves might give a little buzz but that just might be caused by carbon monoxide.
So far, the Wetter\'s Better recipe has shown the most dramatic effects on the female in terms of lubricity while the raw herb capsules heat the genitals the most.
If I were to make my own damiana liquor, I\'d use raw leaves or empty some capsules and soak in warm acidified alcohol like vodka with ascorbic acid (vitamin C). I wouldn\'t boil it since there must be some active volatile fractions. I\'d filter then dilute in more vodka and add sugar to taste.
Note that these are from non-controlled, limited populations experiments using a variety of commercial, non-standardized damiana forms. Still, they have been colloborated by other Forum members.
Damiana is fun to play with and cheap and apparently of limited side effects. Have fun experimenting - I sure have!
