NLP has been critized as a pseudo science and does not have a scientific basis. The mainstream psychology beliefs are based on \"theories\" which undergoes a process to evaluate its reasonableness. NLP is not based on theory but rather it is based on \"models\" which is evaluated on its usefullness rather than reasonableness. This is the main reason why psychologist call NLP as non scientific. NLP uses principles and things that work even though they don\'t have any idea or theory how they work, in other words NLP uses principles or ideas that work that is not based on theory but on experience. Mainstream psychology is based on theory first then from the theory evolves the principle or practices or experiences. The scientific method always starts with a theory, so that most psychologist call NLP as non scientific because it does not start with a theory. But of course if things work why bother explaining how it works. That is why even if NLP is non scientific some of its principles still works.

Ferromone you\'re right, NLP is longer around than most \'scientific\' therapies. You wanna know why? Because it works! NLP is more than models, it\'s an methodology AND an attitude. Just like backing a cake: lack some ingredient and we\'ll al know what happens. Lack the attitude...
