What exactly are "pulse points"?

I\'ve heard the term pulse points before and I\'ve seen them discussed on here, but I was wondering if there are scientific/medical reasons why you should use those areas to put on a fragrance/phero\'s? The two most common areas seem to be behind the ears and on your wrists.

Behind your ears, nape of your neck, hollow of your throat, on your wrists, in the bend of your arm (inside of your elbow), backs of your knees, hollows of your ankles, arch of your foot. All those are places where the veins are close to the skin and the skin is fragile, so they are places where you can easily feel your pulse, which makes them warmer (supposedly), and warmth diffuses fragrance and/or pheros. But people are putting phero\'s on their eyebrows, chins, heads, everyplace.
