Default Sources for Syringes, Vials

Since my lab days are long behind me, I needed to source some equipment for playing with mixes. I found some decent equipment out there, and thought I\'d share with all of you.

Carolina Biological has some items for storing/mixing. They have free shipping, so a 36 pack of 1 dram screw-cap vials (for storing mixes/colognes), a tray for holding all those little bottles (no use crying over spilled pheros), and a small square watch glass for mixing in set me back less than $20. They also have disposable pipets marked off as low as 1/4ml, if that\'s your thing.

On Ebay was where the interesting stuff was. Seems there\'s a bustling business in selling old syringes as collectors items. I was able to pick up, again shipping included, new 1/4 ml and 2 ml glass syringes, along with a box of needles, for $30. The smaller syringe is marked at .01 ml, and the larger is marked at .1 ml. Who needs to count drops when you can measure precisely down to half the size of an EtOH drop? For those who wonder if anal-retentive has a hyphen in it, you can even pick up microliter syringes, accurate down to something like .0002 ml with a capacity of only .01 ml.

All in all, a fully decked lab for less than $50. Now all I need is a pair of goggles before Dr. Platz yells at me.

I noticed that you can get 5ml atomisers (silver) in the \"Natural Collection\" section of Boots the Chemists in the UK for £3.00 each. Nice little handy size if you don\'t want to waste too much of your NPA mixing it in a 10ml vial.

Boots also have a 1ml syringe (along with a few other sizes), but in a traveller\'s first aid kit which is like £20 and thus not worth getting just for the syringe.

Ok guys and gals, here is the update I promised. So I just got my shipment. I ordered 4 3cc (3ml) syringes with needles. They are perfect. Like I said, they are 3 mL syringes with needles, and they are measured down to .1 mL. I think the needle is 25 or 28 gauge, really small. Now time for the alchemist fun!!!

Oh yeah, price: 15 cents per syringe, $4.70 shipping FedEx. All together, $5.30. How sweet it is...
