no, it

wouldn't be a bad idea. a lot of people will ask a girl to smell their cologne, it's a great way to get the ball

rolling and is a good conversation starter. not to mention, as you said, get them exposed to the pheromones by

smelling you.

The "cologne test" is a somewhat

worn out "opening gambit" mentioned on some pickup sites. However it *may* work. Depends on how you do it, and on

how exposed your target audience may have been to the line in the past.

It may be best to simply mention offhand

that you are wearing a new cologne *without* asking them to smell it. I suspect a natural reaction, consious or not,

to such a comment will probably get them to take a whiff or two. Or maybe just say "I wonder what that is I smell in

here" type comment without any reference to any cologne at all.
