After last night's speeches
and the press results I am begining to believe she may have been the best choice to unseat Obama. I think we are
going to see an interesting campaign with her involved.

From what I can gather,
it's Palin: the small town gal versus the sophisticated city folk.

That's the way I see it too.
My guess is their strategy is going to be something like "Hey! I'm just like you and understand where you are
coming from. Do you want some self serving elitist or would you prefer your neighbor representing you?"

Personally, I want to see how she
does when she isn't "preaching to the choir".

That's the big question in my
mind.
I've followed Palin since reading about her Gov. race, and thought she might rise up in the world.
Now
she's gotten over a big hurdle by performing exceptionally well on a huge national stage. That was a real pressure
speech last night, and she did just great.
What's left is for her to perform well against those excrescences in
media.
Agree with all the above about how the race will be portrayed by the GOP. I also think Obama/Biden will
not be able to counter this strategy effectively, they just don't have the tools. You can already see that Palin
is a real threat to the Dems by their reaction to her nomination, and their willingness to make complete asses of
themselves in the process.
The race is suddenly interesting again.
Edit: Holmes, I heard Rove on TV last
night and he stated that he was surprised by Palin's pick, if that should mean anything.
That's a very old topic but I still believe he
was better than the alternatives. Al Gore especially scared the crap out of me but not quite as much as Obama does.
Once again, we have to remember that under current election law, Bush was voted into office twice.
It sure
would be a nice change to have somebody to vote for rather than against. Too bad Ron Paul has never had much of a
chance. But Palin might be a good choice in another 4-8 years, if she proves herself capable.

It could mean that he really was surprised by the pick. Or that he's a prodigious
liar.
On another note, I really liked Giuliani's speech last night. Thought he hit the nail quite squarely
on the head as regards Obama. I'll bet the GOP are all dancing the funky chicken. They should be (if they have any
rhythm whatsoever).

Yes, all correct in my view. But even as an initial Bush supporter I'll be
glad to move past this administration. I think Bush has been both great and bad for the country. I do look forward
to a change, not only in certain policies, but in general feeling among those who disagree.
To be quite honest
though, I think the onus is upon Dems to get over their hatred for Bush and move on should McCain be elected. I
don't think I can stand another 4 (or more) years of moronic bumper stickers.

After listening to all of the
speeches, I think the Republicans are going to be conducting an "E tan e epi tas" campaign. (Come home bearing your
shield or on it.) It seems almost as if they want to turn the US into the United States of Sparta. Either that or
they are going for the "pitty vote" i.e. Poor John got tortured, so he deserves to be President. I heard lots about
war and "security" but very little about economics and jobs or the environment, except "drill, drill, drill".

With all of the 9-11
specials on this past week end, I started thinking. When will we have our election year terrorist alert? I'm
thinking October 20 or so. Close enough to the election to remind people we "need a war hero as leader" and early
enough to not be "connected" to the election.

Jim, I'm thinking it
might not happen this year, one can only cry wolf just so many times, might backfire this time around unless
something real does happen. I think the shift is being made from the War on Terror back again to the Russian
menace, a bit harder this time since they are no longer "Godless Communists" but a Christian and nationalist
society.

Ron Paul is scheduled on
Wed at the Nat Press Club in DC to make what he's calling a major announcement. I'm both perplexed at what it
could be and also excited about what could amount to "nothing much there".

Intersting, not much substance

served on the 4th to both Obama and the DNC, haven't heard much else since then.

It has some interesting
ramifications. Were any one fo those charges proven true he would be out of the race forever. That would most likely
put Hillary back in the race and she'd start off sucking hind tit with a lot of people. Of course her suppoerters
would be estatic.

Somehow I think if there was any
real validity to Obama's ineligible status it would have played out fully by now. The FEC has certainly "vetted"
his status, along with probably dozens of election attorneys on both sides.
As for Palin, I think its very
obvious that she's stirred up the Left into a dither not unlike a teenage tantrum. Calling names, making mountains
of molehills, downright untruths floated willingly by a sold-out press. We can dismiss most of the bloggers out of
hand; nobody could be more useless to a serious debate.

If Obama et al have anything of any substance to say
about Palin and her positions they're sure not saying it, rather, they're attacking the person. It's all pretty
tacky.
