Default No Internet, what would you do?

    visit-red-300x50PNG
posted in light of all the undersea cables being "cut" (personally I think there are switches that turn on and off

and nothing has really been cut physically, perhaps it could even be done with software).

    My business would

come to a stand-still, Bruce's too I would imagine although he has a more dedicated following than I do - mine is

more a one time shot business with no reordering.

So, what would you do if we lost the internet? How would

    it affect you?

    Several dozen clients would try

to call us to complain. The half that have misplaced our cell phone numbers wouldn't get through because I use VOIP

in my office. The techs would all be going crazy trying to answer all the calls of customers wanting us to figure

    out the problem.

I'd probably go have a drink someplace quiet and not worry about it since I couldn't fix

    it.

It could be done with software and it could be down with switches but why do you think it was? Not that I am

complaining about overseas tech support having problems, it's been something of a boon to me. I just don't see the

    reason.

    Default the speculation

    I've heard is

that it's a prelude to war with Iran or it's a practice drill in anticipation with a future war with Iran, or that

it's retribution for Iran's new oil bourse which will trade in non-dollars and was supposed to start on the 11th

(it's launch has been delayed now with the cable cuts).

I guess it's possible but will

wait for evidence before believing it.

Thanks Bel, I was wondering what

    you guys were talking about.

I'm amazed that redundancy is not already built into the overseas cabling.

    I use

the internet extensively in my business, but could do without it with a huge loss in time.

    And I would miss Nina

    Hartley terribly. Gotcha Mobely!!

One of my biggest concerns with the

probable upcoming USA Democrat administration, is how much control they will take of the internet. All in the name

    of National security of course.

And too make sure we don't harm ourselves with

it, of course. Remember that nanny always knows best.

    Default there's nothing

    like sitting in

Heathrow or Gatwick with time to kill and finding out you aren't allowed (after paying for internet access no less)

that certain web sites are off limits to you.

I wouldn't be happy about it in the

normal sense of the word, but I would spend a lot more time renovating old houses, which I am enjoying.

Good point Bruce... I just had a

long weekend with no internet and no phone, on purpose. Don't think I'd like it as a habit, but it sure was nice

    while it lasted.

If I had no internet, I'd bum off
