    Default problems with forum interface

...takes about one second to record each letter typed. Not a problem on other forum sites. Any ideas??

    Maybe clear your cache, run

    Spybot and Adaware?

    Thanks, but that didn't help.

    I still have the problem.

Basically, I can't use the forum anymore.

Could it be the mozilla browser? As

I said, there's no problem on other message boards.

Could someone associated with the forum respond,

    please? Thanks.

    Have you tried any other

browser? Since nobody else is reporting a similar problem I have to assume it is somehow related to your

configuration. Not being in front of your computer I can only suggest trial and error methods. First step would be

to try another browser. Also, what was changed when this started happening?? Any updates or changes in the system?

A tentative proposed work around that might help would be to type what you want to say in note pad then copy and

paste it to the forum. Clunky but might help until we figure out what the problem is.

Another thought, do you have an

"always on" connection? (DSL, Cable, LAN).

If so could your computer have been hacked and is now hosting "warez"

    (Stolen movies, software etc.)?

The resulting slow down from all of the downloads.

    Or perhaps

it's been "rooted" and is now part of a "botnet" used in attacks.

    That could be. Good thought.

Doc, Is this a PC or a Mac? If PC, try this. Hold the 'ctrl' and 'alt' keys and press 'delete' once. That

should bring up your task manager. Click the performance tab on top. You can see how busy your computer is from

there. If really busy without any programs running have your local computer pro take a look at it. Otherwise try

another browser and see what changes.

    Doc,

    Try going into "User CP

    > Edit Options > Miscellaneous/Message Editor Interface" and switching the options there.

    I remember having

some kind of problem replying to posts a while back, and switching from the "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG

Editing" down to the lesser "Standard Editor - (etc.)" seems to have gotten rid of whatever glitch was

    happening.

open your browser at this address:

    about:config

    check

out the value, privacy.item.formdata and make sure if it's set value true.

    Thanks for the ideas, ladies

and gentlemen! As you can see, I'm now typing in my normal verbose style.

    The problem was apparently browser

related, from some kind of interaction effect I haven't isolated.

I had switched to mozilla Firefox, and

perhaps one of the Mozilla extensions interact unfavorably with the forum software, so that keystrokes aren't

registered properly. Seems most likely, anyway.

I tried the cofig and processor load things without interesting

results. I might try Oscar's idea too, just out of curiosity.

Thanks again for everyone's help. For now, I

just have to avoid using the Mozilla browser with this site.
