Sounds interesting what flavors do you have?
How does it compare to Amouage (I'm

    assumeing you tried it).

Sorry but no I haven't tried

it. Commercial scents never interested me. As I explained in the original post starting this thread, I still have no

    real interest in them.

    Let's see...
Indian (2 flavors), Cambodian, Malaysian, Vietnamese, Burman, Indonisian.

For me the darker oil like Indian are better smelling, not so sweet as the Indonisian.

    Interesting.

I'd like to try a cheap version myself at a shop. Even if it's just

diluated, just to get a general sense of what this stuff is like.

    Look back through the thread,

somebody (Icehawk?) found a place where he could get a small sample for a few dollars.

I'm not sure if you've had this

issue but I've found some of the deeper notes in fragrances/oils can really latch onto none or npa/te and form

something that just gets worse over time. Any idea how the aloeswoods generally do with the dirty mones?

One of my experiments was to

use the heavy oil of Aloeswood over -none products to slow dispersion. I tried it with 1 & 2 drops of PI. It worked

out well. Although I should mention that most days I shower twice because I like to hit the dojo in the late

afternoon or evening and really need to shower afterwards. However, I have worn it when we go out for the evening

and don't seem to have any problems the next moring. I can even think of a few times where my SO woke up um...quite

    randy.

The aloeswood scent is of the

nicest I have been exposed. He wears it most days. It is a masculine scent that is appealing.

Not much. It is far more

complex and richer with more subtle overtones. Sandalwood or cedar are often used as a base for Aloeswood attars.

So, are you saying that you might want to try to

combine Sandalwood or Cedar with Aloeswood, or is the Aloeswood Attars you speak of a seperate product? Or are you

really saying that Aloeswood contains these other woods?

    Cheers!

    Aloeswood is an essential oil,

is pure and is used all by itself. An attar is diluted or mixed aloeswood. It can be done to save money, mellow

aloeswood or combine it with other scents. I've used sandalwood and aloeswood together it it is pretty nice but I

prefer aloeswood by itself. Typically, when you mix it with something else the scent does not last nearly as long.

In many cases I can still smell pure aloeswood on my the next day. Also, there are lots of shady dealers out there

who mix aloeswood with other less expensive scents like cedar or sandalwoood and pass it off as pure. Horsewhipping

    is too good for them.

How much is a good amount to wear

of this stuff? I've been using the Aloeswood sampler from Oriscent for a couple of weeks now, and I usually wear

one dab on each wrist and one dab on each side of the neck.

    That should be fine. Just

I can get thru a 3ml bottle of

Oud in a week. U shud wear has much as u like. The 1st time that i smelt Oud, 7yrs ago, i thought what the hell is

this! Now i been wearing it for 6 yrs and i love it mor than ever. The word Attar or Atthar just means essence,

basicly anything thats not got chemicals in it. Ittar means the same and an Ittari is sum1 who sells Attar.

If you are really interested in

knowing about a wide range of LLaoeswood flavors and can spare the money, yes. I never bought the samples but ended

up dealing with a guy who sells smaller quantities at very reasonable prices. Overall I spent more money but got

more value for the money spent.

First of all, my gratitude to

Belgareth who pointed me to a good source of Aloeswood oil in Singapore!

That said, the oil ( Burmese

Aloeswood ) arrived today and I must say that it smelled kind of peculiar...so I have not dared to use it undilluted

    yet!

I got a very small amount on my fingers and I could smell a burnt note in it, as well as a woody note

reminding me of Sandalwood Mysore and also some leather notes.
(And you should know that I have had surgery twice

on my nose due to a Martial Art injury so some days I have almost no smell and some days I can pinpoint notes in

perfumes...Go figure...After the surgery I have to flush saltwater up my nose each day as well for the rest of my

life, but that is a small price to pay to be able to breathe and smell again...but this tells you a little bit about

    the strongness of the smell...)

I will probably *not* wear this by itself, but have it as a basenote in my

attempts to mix essential oils which I will take up at last...

Since the smell is very strong I will probably

have to dillute it in vegetable carrier oil before using it in any EO mix, but how much? Someone here mentioned 0.4

% which is like half a drop of Aloeswood in 200 drops of carrieroil right?

    Thanks again Belgareth!

    Your welcome.

    I still

reccomend you try it stand alone. A very small dab spread on your skin won't be overwhelming. It also changes as it

reacts to your body chemistry. The smell in the container is not the smell on your skin.

I took a look on the oriscent

page today, and checked the ouds they sell.
They look very interesting to me especially the borneo 3000 and the

    royal oud!
    The royal sounds veryyy interesting
But the price for these samples is high and they say the

    samplers are just 1/4 filled...
    Did anyone check them out?
    Are they worth the price?
    How much is inside

    such a sample??? (1ml?)

(The usual bottles are 3 ml that means a quater Tola and even then they are veryyyyy

    expensive...)

Happy for any comment on that!

Well, a few days ago I decided

to order the Oriscent Oud Samplers and some other samples, eventhough i didnt know how they would be!

Today they arrived at my home and I have to say they are marvelous!!! Each one is worth its money!!! And

    I mean each one!!!
The best of all are the oud samples, each of them is a treasure and exactly
    as described on

    their weppage!!!
And the king of them all is really the oud royale!!!
It has a very intoxicating, lovely and

    beautifull smell!!!
Its not to strong and very mystic.
    Its just great!
I am happy to be one of the few

people who have some of it!!!
Because the owner of Oriscent told me that it will soon be soldout, and if

    its soldout...
On his webpage he describes that the wood usually used for oud is low quality and

the high grade wood is not used for oil making, just for burning on charcoal.(That is a fact I allready knew and was

very dissapointed about that its very hard to get an oil of high quality oud wood)
    But anyway he could get

some 23!!! jear old oud from a rich oudlover who distilled the BEST woods available at his time.
    I

think its one of the few chances to get such old and especially such high grade oud oil for an affordable price.
    I

am now owner of at least a sample of it and I hope my budget will soon recover again to be able to get maybe some

more of it before its gone(if my wife allows me )
But the other Ouds are great too and very pure, very

interesting was the china oud wich has a very extraordinary smell i never experienced with any oud i smelled before!

I also got some ambergris oil (and its high quality, I know that cause I smells exactly like the ambergris stone

I have) and a lot of samples wich I thought would be of ordinary qulitaty, but they were not, even the non oud

    fragrances i got were great!
    Especially the Turkish Rose Attar!!!!!!!
Jasmine and musk were also great!!!

I talked on the phone with the owner himself (he called me from usa, eventhough I live in germany and just have

cellular phone!) and we talked about 20 minutes or more. It was very interesting, cause he gave me a lot good

    advices and informations!
He is a very nice guy and gave me some additional samples to try!!!!
    I can recommend him

very much and i am going to buy from him for sure again!!!
Its very hard to find a trustworth source for

    oud! (and other fragrances)
If you find one, never let it go!!!
Thats what I experienced, I hope it will be

    usefull for you!!!
    (Any questions are welcome)

    Just recieved a bottle of

Malaysian Oud that's reputed to be about 30 years old. Fantastic smell. Can't wait to see how others think it

    smells on me.

    The price varies. Of this

quality a tola (12 grams) can sell for $250-$1,000. I paid near the low end but only bought 1/4 tola. Now that I've

tried it I'll be going back for more.

    Just received the sample set

of Oud from oriscent today. gotta say that stuff is pretty potent. I tried using 1 briefly today to get a feel for

it diluted on my skin w/ a lil bit of pheros. the 2 seem to blend so well together. haven't had time to test it out

in the field so to speak much yet but hope it works out ok. I can already tell that it has a calming affect on me

and nearly a buzz off of it when it was mixed with pheros

    Also just received the sample

set of Oud from oriscent today!

My first impression was paint, laquer or polish or something!!

Real woody stuff, then after trying some of the royale on my wrists it reminded me of a little the

above and also weed. On one wrist I sprayed some cologne over to see if it goes with it, and it seemed to

blend easily, in fact it sort of kept the oud scent and added a bit of the notes from the cologne. The wrist

w/cologne did actually keep the scent for a much longer time!

    So to my questions;

    -anyone use oud with

    cologne?

-anyone tried it with A314 & cologne?

    -anyone tried it with
    A314 and pheros?

    Thanks

    Since receiving the sample set

I have noticed they smell a lot better after you let them sit on the skin for at least 30 or so minutes to mellow

out. also they blend quite nicely w/ cologne and Pheros.
I've only tried it with 2 colognes.
    Halston Z, and Acqua

    di Gio.

Only tried it 1 day w/ a314 and get the usual extra respect that a314 tends to get me but not much more.

the oud itself though significantly mellows me out. yet also seems to be enhancing confidence as well.
