    Does anyone here know

    how?

Is it really hard to learn?

How did you learn (i.e. class, friends, street, video

    instruction...)?

Thanks in advance for any insight and/or advice!

    Breakdancing, like capoeira, can

only be learned properly in a street group environment. sure, you can practice on your own, but 'learning' takes

place with others; showing, correcting, helping and criticizing.

For my money, I'd go with capoeira. It's

much more friendly, but each have their charms. If you jump into a breakdancing crowd and bust some serious, fluid,

extravagant capoeira, you'll make some friends, but breakdancing in a roda is unpractical!

    I love both. You

can look at the websites he listed and get some basics down, but the real stuff needs to be done with/for people.

    Typically better than you.

    Good luck, brother holmes.

    Thanks all.

    Steve and

Brunoc - I love Capoeira and have wanted to get into it for the longest time, but I'd kind of written it off as the

    Impossible Dance Of The Genetically-Charmed.

    Same thing with breakdancing.

    Are these abilities

something you're born with (do you have to be "acrobatically-inclined") or can anyone learn them?

    Slick,

Jim, and Kardoza - Thanks for the links!

bjf - I actually haven't seen Beat Street, but I'll check

    it out.

I know little to nothing about

capoeria but beakdancing is one of those things that if you work hard at it you can learn. If you can afford them

get some lessons - they would be invaluable! And just hang around bboy and read all the forums and vids. Maybe

forkout a few $$'s for some Mr Wiggles vids if you can....Good luck!

    Learn about capoeira, it's the

root of breakdancing and anyone can learn

A genetic advantadge in acrobatic style stuff is an advantage, but

I've seen someone who is fat and inflexible start and master enough to allow him to progress to a stage where the

seemingly impossible stuff is only a few months away.

    and it rocks!

zoom zoom zoom capoeira mata um!

Im pushing forty and as a result

of past professions...my poor body just aint what it used to be.If I tried to break dance I would likely end up in a

hospital I have alot of respect for someone who is in good enough condition to do that...

Well, that's kind of the way I

feel right now, too - after not having, like, moved in a long time. And especially after seeing things like

those "floating pushups" in the video link above. If I so much as attempted any of that now, my arms would probably

    snap off.

But I'm hoping that it is just a matter of working up to it and that, like Steve said,

anyone can do it (eventually, anyway).

Steve, thanks for the encouraging thoughts.

    BTW, I just saw

You Got Served. Painfully awful shit to sit through, but the moves are cool...
