    Exclamation Is It A Stroke?

    I know a stroke is

nothing anyone wants to confront, but....

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify.

Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby

fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three

    simple quesitons:

    Ask the individual to smile.

Ask him or her to raise both

    arms.

Ask the person to speak a simple sentence.

If he or she has trouble with

any of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

    After discovering that a

group of non-medical volunteers could identify weakness, arm weakiness and speech problems, researchers urged the

general public to learn the THREE QUESTIONS.

They presented their conclusions at the American Stroke

Association's annul meeting last February. Widespread use of this test could result in prompt diagnosis and

treatment of the stroke to prevent brain damage.
    -----------------------------------------------
    There's a shot,

that if taken with 3 hours of the stroke, helps prevent brain damage. Anyone know what it is?

    Anyone?

    Anyone?

Thumbs up Good to know Mobley - Thanks

Hope this link works cause for some

reason I couldn't copy/paste and had to type it here.

It refers to "FDA-approved clot-busting drug tPA, which

must be administered within a three-hour window from the onset of the symptoms to work best. Generally, only 3 to 5

percent of those who suffer a stroke reach the hospital in time to be considered for this treatment."

    PS This

would be for an ischemic stroke, not a hemorraghic stroke.
