Sony Sucks

the friggin hard drive on my brand new laptop is shot, Damn japanese. I havent gotten everything to work right at

the same time during the entire time ive had it. Goes to show what kind of S*** you get for paying 2 grand.

about 3 months, the battery

works for about 30-45 minutes, it uses a 2.8 ghz HT processor, so it drains the battery fast. Laptops typically use

60-80 watts, mine uses aprrox 120 watts

thats why i have two 40 Pound

Sealed Lead Acid batteries for road trips and plane rides. It'll run that sucker at max power for 10 hours. Of

course i have to wheel it around in a whellie bage because of the weight. I have a 300 watt (600 watt surge)

inverter, which makes two wall outlets out of the batteries, So basically i can plug in a wide varitey of things.

(TV's, Consoles, Desktop computers, just about anything that uses an average of about 300-350 watts, with surges

under 600 watts)


by the way, i custom wired the batteries myself . They are so powerful if you touch

both terminals together, the amount of power going through the wire will melt right through eachother

there. I'm surprised you're having a problem with Sony. I've had a Sony VAIO laptop for 2 years now & its

worked virtually flawlessly the whole time...I think it has crashed once the whole time I've had it. I had an IMac

before which used to crash constantly...

the poweer goes through a

power inverter, its not direct hooked to the computer, if there was a surge or something in the batterys, it yould

just blow the inverters fuse, the power from the batteries goes like this:

12 volts- Direct Current

(DC)
-=-Inverted-=- (by inverter)
120 volts- Actuating Current (AC)
-=-Inverted-=- (by laptops AC Adaptor)

volts- Direct Current (DC)

if there was a power surge, it would be almost impossible (0.000000001% chance) it

would even come close to frying the computer

It shouldn't. It will only allow power up to it's internal needs.

Remember, when you plug something into a wall outlet you have billions of amps on tap. TD's power supply is

miniscule by comparison.

I've heard a lot of bad things about Sony laptops and handhelds but don't deal with

them. We handle Toshiba and they are pretty stable. Toshiba hsa great factory support for it's dealers too.

I don't know about Sony

computers, but I trust Sony for other electronics more than any other brand. I'm still using the Sony discman I

got christmas of '94, and it runs all night long every night.
