Default Searching problems in the new forum

    visit-red-300x50PNG
    Has

anyone else noticed that the search function of this new forum isn't quite what it should be? For example, I tried

to search for "A1" and it told me this:

"The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and

were not included in your search : A1"

This is not cool, plus all of the good threads I had marked as

favorite in the last forum are lost to the wind now so I'd really like to be able to use that search function.

The search term has to be at

least 4 characters long...othewise the search index would be too large!

If you are searching for something

less than 4 characters long try a wildcard search: for example, you could try *A1*

    Well thanks but that still

    doesn't work, it says:

The search term you specified (*A1*) is

under the minimum word length (4) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer. If this term

contains a wildcard, please make this term more specific.

    any ideas?

    What are you searching for???

    Steak sauce?

In all seriousness, there is a practical limit to the search index as if we lowered it to 2

characters it would index EVERY word from each post...not very efficient and would make the size of the database

about 4 times larger than it has to be.

Can you modify it to something else?

    Perhaps we should start posting

the full word to make search results easier

Ie if i commented on AE *alter ego* could be put there to index

    it on search results ?

The database is very big though so issues may arise.

    hhhmmm...if someone could make a

list of all abbreviations that are used [less than 4 letters] than I can exempt those and ALWAYS index them. In

addition, I can re-index the forum so they will show up when searching past threads.

    That would be

helpful since they post a list of all the abbreviations and everyone on the forum talks the abbreviations, so it

would stand to reason that this should take them also. I know, it was a run-on fragment like sentence, but

    hopefully you got it.

multi name pheromone products (more than one ie pheros) bruce and moderators should be able to help there - hey what

happened to the link to the pheromone cookbook ?
