    Default Myelodysplastic Syndrome

    visit-red-300x50PNG
    I know this has

nothing at all to do with attraction or smart drugs or whatever, but seeing as how many of you on here have quite a

bit of experience with alternative methods of various sorts, I was wondering if anyone had any information or

personal experience dealing with natural remedies or alternative therapies of any kind for Myelodysplastic Syndrome

(a disorder in which the bone marrow does not produce enough blood cells). This is a fatal condition for my friend

who is in his 70\'s. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

    That is

sad news. I\'d Google it with the words \"natural\" and \"alternative\". My thoughts and prayers go out to

your friend. One would have to learn the exact problems and mechanisms involved.

    Doc, thanks

for your concern, it is appreciated. I\'ve been heavily researching online but have been hardpressed to come up

with anything concrete. I was hoping in particular to find either someone with personal experience or a doctor who

has had some success with alternative remedies for this condition. A form of vitamin K2 was discussed as a possible

aid in several sources; unfortunately the patient in question is on a blood-thinning medication which has been shown

to interact unfavorably with it. I did eventually find this \"Alternative Cancer Center\"

www.aacancer.com but it looks to be more of a money trap for rich folks

than anything substantial. If anyone knows of any other possibilities, please feel free to share.

    In Boston\'s China

Town there may be an eastern medicine shop. Or maybe elsewhere.

    I do

know that bones and spongy tissues are made of lots of collagen and elastin, and that it is possible to supplement

collagen and elastin with bovine sources. Fatty acids, such as from, flax, borage and fish oils, are important for

the repair of such tissues, as is vitamin C. OPC\'s or pycnogenol may be a relevant antioxidant.

    But it sounds

like the precancerous condition is the main factor, and perhaps one would apply that logic to its

    treatment.

Products such as IP6 and beta-glucan are good for the immune system and cancers, as are nutritional

changes. I know that cancer loves conditions favorable to candida.

I read that many can live for years with the

condition. There are treatments for the symptoms, as you know.

I wish I knew something about it. Good luck in

    your search.

Man, Exit. I'm very sorry to

hear that!!! (I hadn't checked this thread for ages.) I had to read your post twice. This just won't do! I know

you would be a warrior for your health, sir. So I very much hope you feel like you have a handle on what could be

causing or contributing to it, and are addressing that. I assume you're also PM'ing nbn. Let me/us know if I/we

    can be of any assistance.

What kind of blood cells are you

talking about? I know that supplementation of steroids has been proven to signifigantly increase red blood cell

    numbers..

    IIRC, there are different

varieties that affect different types of blood cells, or even more than one type. People do what they can to control

symptoms by boosting they type they lack, through transfusions, etc. Bone marrow transplants are sometimes tried in

younger people. The problem is more the underlying condition, I suppose.
