a home theater
system? The house I moved into has this older model Sharpvision LCD projector. It is just starting to give me
problems. I kind of need to fix it/get it fixed because the new ones run around $10,000, and if I don\'t have one
I will have this movie theater screen (which is built in to the wall unit) and nothing to do with it.
I emailed
Sharp trying to locate a person that does repairs on them but haven\'t heard back from them. I know this is a shot
in the dark, but I want some peace of mind that it is fixable.

anybody? anybody?

Did you get the warranty with it?

no, it\'s
an old system. It came with the house. I think these systems were out around 1992. At that time they were selling
for about $5000.00.
They have gotten sooooo much better these days, but I have no intention of paying $10,000 for
another one. I need to have this one fixed, but I have to have some idea of what the problem is before I take it in.
I want to act like I am somewhat familiar with the system so they don\'t try to take me for an even bigger ride
than they already will. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Well,
don\'t you have that other nice tv? I wouldn\'t pay that much money to fix the thing, especially because hdtvs
can be about a grand these days.
What is happening to the TV, in terms of problems???

I do have
other nice TV\'s, but in that room there is a massive built in movie theater screen and it will be wasted space if
I don\'t have anything to watch movies on.
There is a loud popping/clicking noise when I turn it on and while
the lamp seems to be working, I am not getting any picture. I have opened the filters and cleaned them out. I sense
that there is an obstruction and it is keeping something from rotating properly, but then again, I have no frikken
idea what I am talking about. This just sucks and I want the problem to go away.
I looked up how much replacment
lamps are for this unit. They are selling from $300-$500 so it had better not be the lamp.

Ok, it sounded like it was built in. Well, when my tv went, it was because something
melted inside of it, but it doesn\'t sound like that is the case here. You spoke to customer service?
Call customer service, they can be bad about getting back to you (by email), but they may know what symptoms
cause what problems. They have trouble-shooting guides and manuals. You may be able to get the manual off the net
btw.

I do have
the manual. Nothing about loud clicking noises. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I\'ll attempt
to get someone from Sharp on the phone tomorrow and see if there is anyone that can tell me something before I take
it in and get robbed by the service people. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You can
have my bed. I\'m not allowed to sleep in it anyway.
Under Elana\'s bed is ok... (but I was assaulted by a
wayward \'toy\' yesterday)

Wish I had
stuff like that to worry about /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

It is great
when it works. When it doesn\'t it is just a box that makes ugly noises.

I have a king size bed. You will both fit.
I wouldn\'t
worry about getting it fixed E. Not with all the HDTV programing coming out and the complete switching over to all
HDTV in the not too distant future. Knowing your fondness for the long probe, have a muralist come in and paint a
giant dick on the screen. Photo-Realistic would be the best.

But I
don\'t care about all that HDTV stuff. I don\'t notice the difference. I am not the type of person that has to
have the newest and best when it comes to electronics. I just want it to work. I don\'t care about high definition
crap.
But if that fails....huge penis picture on the wall. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good idea. If this one is going to be expensive to fix (I have no idea what the problem is)
I\'ll check the paper. I did look on ebay but I would rather find something locally that I can actually check to
make certain it is working.

home theatre system that doesn\'t work or being assaulted by a wayward \"toy\"?
