ok seems im going clubbing
this weekend... honestly i havent been to a dance club in years o_O and even when i went normally it was gay bars
cause most of my friends were gay and i felt safer cause i wouldnt get hit on (well ok women hit on me but i just
admitted i was straight and they never pushed anything) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I cant
dance! I mean maybe i can but i dont wanna feel like a fool. any serious sites for dancing tips? I dont wanna look
like a total ass... also i dunno what to wear. my friend tol me to wear my black mesh top (acctual metal mesh kinda
chainmail but not quite, its light and backless) with heeled black boots, a black mini skirt and fishnet
stockings... is this too slutty? or what? ahhh i feel like such a knob... i should have kept up my clubbing so id
know what to do /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

First of all what type
of dance club are you going to? What type of dancing is going to be there? In the clubs where the majority of the
people there are doing variations on the \"bump\'n\'grind\", it\'s all about attitude and originality. Do
whatever you feel like doing with the music that\'s playing and don\'t give a sh!t about what you\'re
dancin\' even though you\'ll cringe if your friends tape your dancin\' and show it to you later. You slip.
You fall. Well, hey you just created a new move! Done it myself plenty of times.
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
For clubs that are feature swing, salsa, tango, or any other
partner dances it\'s more structured, but once you can do \"the basic\" that these dances are structured around
you\'ll do fine on the social floor (you might not be able to do \"flashy\" moves but those tend to require more
room that what you\'ll have on the social floor).

yup.
Put some music
on in your house, and dance in front of a mirror.
Once you have stopped laughing/crying, try again.
Keep
going until what you see doesn\'t embarrass you.

IMHO either you got that
natural rhythm...or you don\'t.
If you don\'t, then your only choice is to not worry about a damn thing, and
have fun with your goofy dancin self. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Do what I do...Don\'t
move your feet. Just kinda rock back and forth and side to side. And don\'t forget the butter churner. And swing
your arms around... but not to much. You don\'t want to knock anyone down. Or splash their drinks all over
themselves. That\'s a sure way to start trouble. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When I was teaching, I used to tell my students to just put on some
boogie music at home, and let \'er rip. (In addition to practicing the exercises that I taught them <g>)
Just boogying for a period of time, every day that you can, will help you get fluid and teach you how to use
space. You will also become more graceful in your daily movements, and more confident. You\'ll be amazed at the
steps you come up with, by yourself.
If you want to get fancy... there are some aerobic dance vids and CDs with
club choreographies available. Some are done by rap groups, or professional dance troups. You can pick up some
simple steps that look GOOOOOOOOD.
You are a young, together woman, Apple. I suspect that yoru biggest obstacle
is that you just aren\'t comfortable, yet. I think you could be a BIG hit at the clubs.

Chorophobia is Fear of
Dancing.
I doubt this is you though. It\'s chronic. If I relised dancing would be such a crucial social thing
when I was younger I might have tried it. As it is I\'m totally dogged by my fear.

A lot of my mates
can dance when they aren\'t being too concious about it, but suck when they start thinking about what they are
doing.
A lot of people, I guess, aren\'t confident in letting there whole body dance around in crowds.
