I get that sorta sh*t on my cell phone as spam emails.....at least 7-8/day
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Most of them are complete gibberish....almost seem like random
meta tags.

CJ,
When the emails are at least comprehensible, but with repeated misspellings of certain key words (especially
in the subject line), I\'ve always assumed that this was some strategy to get through spam filters.
I don\'t
really know how these things work, but I\'d assume that there are certain \"red-flagged\" words, which when
misspelled, don\'t raise the flags.
Can\'t account for the ones that are total gibberish though.

like someone has a soda soaked keyboard (sticking keys) and has a wrong address in responding to a technical
question regarding hard drives.

<hr /></blockquote><font class=\"post\"> oscar that
makes sense actually. But it´s even more annoying than other junk mail. Those people must be really DUMB to
believe that someone will be impressed to such crap and respond!

There are two kinds of spammers: those who pay the other kind to deliver their unwanted emails, and those who make
money delivering unwanted emails.

What puzzles me is how the first kind can be making money out of it.

You
would be amazed how much money is made in the whole \"spam business\". What puzzles me is that there are still
people who \"fall\" for it..

I
remember hearing that the powers that be were thinking of creating a small charge for every email sent, small enough
not to bother the average user but still enough to sting the spammers.
Has anyone else heard this? Or was I just
dreaming...

I
read about that. It puzzles me that Bill Gates thinks he could ever control the internet in that way..

Yeah that thought just occured to me as I wrote that post.
But I think I would prefer it to the spam thats
clogging up all of my accounts, as long as the money went somewhere sensible.

I\'m not sure of the details, but it was written into a bill thats supposed to go before congress
this spring... It is something similar to the national no-call list, only with spam. Once you register your email
address with it, just report the spammer and they will recieve some sort of fine or something
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif... I hate spammers
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
Who knows if they could ever make something like that work.... but
it wouldn\'t really be trying to control the internet, just protecting those that don\'t want to receive
unwanted garbage.

You\'re right... sorry about that. I missed the
part about the small charge to send emails. I still hope they can pass something like a \'no-spam\'
list. I get enough spam to piss me off, but I\'m sure it\'s not even a fraction of what most people have to deal
with.

If it works as well as the no cal
list, the spam problem should triple.
I\'ve
only made a purchse because of SPAM once......and it was APC. That\'s how I heard about mones. The order
didn\'t go through, and in an internet search for APC, I found LS.
