View Full Version : Good source for Ginger EO

I have
finally found a ginger EO that smells like ginger root--that lemony, peppery ginger smell. Unfortunately, it\'s
diluted. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Does anyone know of a good source for ginger EO?
Camden Gray and Aura Cacia are not good sources. I absolutely love the smell of ginger. I just wish I could find an
EO that smells like it\'s supposed to.
Please help!

If
you ever figure that one out, let me know too because I haven\'t found one yet.
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif In the meantime, where did you score the diluted ginger?

Wait a minute, a major sale after the holidays?
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif I\'ve never heard of such a thing.

It\'s their semi-annual sale. Like Victoria\'s Secret. Same company, actually.
All their EO stuff is up to
75% off. Thanks to Elana, I spent mucho dinero there today. But I saved waaaaay more than I spent.

Btw, if
you\'re planning to go shopping at Victoria\'s Secret, let me know. You just might need a second opinion.

I use
Oshadi. It is quite possible that the one you like smells better to you only because it is diluted, since diluting
extra strong oils usully does make them smell better and more natural. Still, trusting your own nose is a good
habit. Aura Cacia is not my favorite for much of anything.

I\'ve diluted ginger EO in mixes, and it never
smells any better. In fact, I had gotten to where I avoided using ginger, because it was so heavy.
I will try
diluting it to about 10% and see if it smells any better. I\'ll also look at oshadi. Thanks!

I don\'t care for Aura Cacia, either. ILOVE Kelson
and Russell sandalwood.

Aura Cacia. Just not all their stuff.

But his tiny prick was soft
If he\'d had the courage

I left the bottle at
home. Will post, later, when I get there. All the health food stores, around here, carry it, though.

Hey
SexyRed,
I create and sell natural bath and body products, and I really like the EOs at CedarVale
http://www.cedarvale.net (\"http://www.cedarvale.net\") -- I *really* like their prices as
well.
It\'s important to remember that EOs taken from different parts of a plant (i.e. leaves, stem, root,
berries, bark, etc) can have slightly or even greatly different scents -- so be sure to ask about the source. Also,
if you have a particular scent in mind, you may need a fragrance oil and not an essential oil. Sometimes the FOs
have the EO as a base, but have other notes in it (such as the lemony, peppery scent you mentioned.)
Good luck --
hope this helps!

Well, that\'s just it. I\'d
rather have the EO for the aromatherapy properties. I found a ginger (and it is diluted, btw) that I really like.
I\'ve tried diluting the other gingers I\'ve got, but I haven\'t found a dilution so far that keeps that
lemony-peppery scent without keeping that hint of heaviness that really turns me off. (Thanks for the diluting tip,
btw. I had forgotten about that, and it is helping.) I just need to find a ginger EO that dilutes without getting
rid of both the sharpness I like and the heaviness of the concentrated EO at the same time.

You\'re the second person who\'s mentioned Cedarvale to me,
AG. I may have to get their ginger and see how it dilutes.
Welcome, btw. We\'d love it if you\'d share some
of your recipes, or at least your experiences, with us!

You\'re doing the right thing to just try different ones and keep in mind the qualities you want, SRH. Crops
differ, suppliers change, and ultimately you have only your nose. Liberty also might be a good source for ginger. If
it was me, I\'d try them first because of their virtually unbeatable prices (but $50.00 min). They\'ve had
batches before that had the qualities you mention, IMO. I would describe their ginger as crisp and clean. I think I
remember Primavera having a good ginger, too. Oshadi\'s is more sophisticated, but not a bad value, for them. Mine
lasted quite a while.

Doc, when are
we going to see this line of perfumes you told us you were working available on L-S!??
