dpreview.com is the best

place for full very specific reviews on every digital camera. When my brother was trying to buy one I just told him

of that site and he then bought the Cannon Powershot which is a very nice camera, not sure of it\'s price I think

it is in the 300-400 US dollar range, might be lower.

Anyhow it\'s a very good review site.

I\'d be quite

confident in recommending the Nikon and Kodak models. I\'ve got a Nikon D100 and it\'s great. And I\'ve heard

good things about Olympus digitals in general.

Leica and Contax have some kick-ass mid-price digitals, as well.

(Contax is my axe of choice for film...)

The guy that runs this site has

some uniform test shots that he does with the cameras that he reviews. I was using both of these sites the most

when I was looking for a digital camera.

As for camera recomendations themselves, it really depends on what

specs that are important for you. There is a wide variety of cameras available in the $300-400 range. I was set on

getting the Fujifilm s7000 in Oct because of the vibrant colors that fujifilm cameras produce and the ability of

shooting movies with the limit being the storage card. Changed my mind when something new caught my eye in Sept. .

Yeah man, the D100 is pretty dang good. I\'d been using

it on maybe 75% of my shoots.

The Canon stuff is really good, too. Great optics.

I\'d forgotten about the

Fujifilm option until you mentioned it. First digital camera I used was a Fuji and I was impressed.
