View Full Version : Does anyone have an aromatherapy diffuser?

I think that is what they are called. The things that you add EO\'s to and they make your house smell really

pretty.

I remember someone telling me about a diffuser thing that you

plug in, and add your oils and it can smell up your entire house. It just sounds like fun and I really want one. I

just don\'t know what exactly they are.

the general pros and cons of the different types of diffusers.
I have the cheapie tea light candle diffuser, but

it\'s fine for what I want.

One problem is

that you probably don\'t have a house with a ROOM of 1500 sq. ft. - that is a huge room. Therefore this device

might overload a smaller room unless the room-to-room circulation is much better than average.

A big plus is the

nebulizer design since it disperses the fragrance without heat.

Still, it should work well but you can get a room

sized, plug in the wall unit for $20.

Sexyredhead
10-03-2003, 07:13 AM
Yes, you can use perfume oils in them. Just make sure you clean everything out really well between

mixes.

And with the perfume oils a little goes a loooooong way!

Sexyredhead
10-03-2003, 07:18 AM
Well,

it\'s for UP TO 1500 sq. ft., so she can turn it off when she thinks it\'s strong enough in the room. She can

also put it in a central location, if she has one, or near the intake vent for the central H/AC, and it\'ll go

everywhere.

I wish I had $60! I\'d get one for myself! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Kari
10-03-2003, 07:23 AM
Yeah, eBay ALWAYS has them. They also have aromatherapy pendant, which are either porous clay, or

perforated metal. They waft the scent into the air all day.

Thanks for the link. I read the page and it mentions heat possibly negatively affecting the

components. Made me wonder what would happen to \'mones if they were heated. I seem to remember reading in the

cookbook that they were pretty stable when heated up to 150 degrees to melt chrystals, but does anyone know how well

they survive a good cooking? How hot can they get and still be effective?

Elana
10-05-2003, 04:29 AM
That\'s what I like best about the Nebulizer. It doesn\'t use heat so it won\'t destroy the

properties of the EO\'s or mones.

Do a search in the main forum, Jones made

The best value in brands I

find is Aura Cacia. They have good store presence here in

California.

http://www.frontiercoop.com/shop/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=FNPC&Category_ Code=ac (\"http://www.frontiercoop.com/shop/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=FNPC&Category_ Co

de=ac\")

nThey also offer a lesser brand, Frontier, that is decent and perhaps a better value for less complex EOs like lemon

or peppermint.

Of course, specific bottles of EOs will vary from brand to brand.

The best essential oil

I\'ve ever owned is a bottle of Mysore Sandalwood a friend brought back from Bombay for me. He was visiting

family there and had a younger family member travel to the Farsi district of town to buy from the main dealers at

the world\'s source. It\'s soooo good!

Elana
10-05-2003, 11:15 AM
Thank you, Whitehall. I

just ordered the Kama Sutra set of EO blends. I love the brand so I faith in the product. I have been using their

Oil of Love and Honey Dust for many years.

What are a few single EO\'s that I need to own? Aura Cacia

doesn\'t seem to have blends, so I\'ll get some of the must haves from them. But what would those be. I know

Lavender is a must have, but what else?

Whitehall
10-05-2003, 12:27 PM
What do you want to do with them?

I assume your prime intention is sex.

Clary Sage is a basic, as is vetiver, sandalwood, and bergamont. There

are relatively inexpensive.

Of the more expensive EOs, rose and jasmine are basic investments. Nerioli may

have more impact per buck though.

This brand is top of the line but very

potent:

http://www.oshadhiusa.com (\"http://www.oshadhiusa.com\")

Their \"Passion and

Desire\" blend gets me off! But then, I\'m easy.

As to Kama Sutra, their \"Love Butter\" is great.

Open a container and the smell is a bit off-putting, but once you get excited and start spreading it on your lover,

it will take you passion up, up, and up. I\'d love to mix in some EW with it but my experiments so far have been

disappointing.

Elana
10-05-2003, 12:57 PM
I have used (still use) the butter

as well as the Almond massage oil. I used to sell the stuff at my lingerie store. I have sampled everything from

their line and wouldn\'t hesitate to recommend the line to anyone.

I want that \"Passion and Desire\"

blend, but I am too new at this to spend $30.00 on that tiny bottle. I will practice first with the less expensive

stuff first. I\'ll get myself those singles that you mentioned (with the exception of the rose) Thanks again

Btw, Clary Sage is great stuff. A few drops in the bedroom and you\'ll have a great night\'s

sleep and very vivid dreams. Be careful of two things: 1. Clary + alcohol = bizarre dreams (possible nightmares), 2.

Too much can make you pretty euphoric (not always a good thing depending on the situation).

Whitehall

Clary sage is also heavy with

phytoestogens so excessive exposure for a male is to be avoided.

Yet, it is so pleasurable.

Well, clary sage is

listed in with the aphrodisiacs, but I think it\'s a minor one. It\'s more to get you relaxed and in a

good/happy mood. I like the smell because it\'s a fresh, grassy/hay smell, but too much of it at once and it kind

of sets my stomach on edge. Just like with any fragrance, too much can ruin the mood.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wouldn\'t you just love to get something like that in a scent

you love? And on top of that, for it to be therapeutic as well? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Doesn\'t affect me.

Agree with all except anise

and peppermint.

However, my little botle of myrrh and frankinscence perfume has got me some nice responses.

I found some

frankincense and myrrh EO goat\'s milk soap the other day. Combined with a little of the almond EO soap that was

next to it, it smelled yummy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I think I\'ll try your

recipe, then. Almond smells NIIIIIICE and sexy. I know that when I wear F&M, guys nibble my neck. Almond MIGHT

just add a little pizazz.

Bath shops often have the kind where you plug in the heater, and screw in replaceable bottles of scent.

THAT\'S how I get my bedroom smelling of sugared vanilla.

Kari

OOOOOOHHHHHH! That has

PO-tential!

Good! No mugwort-- mugwort

will give one precognitive dreams, sometimes. Really. That isn\'t always a good thing.

Don\'t know why

ANYONE would use valerian. Smells like dirty socks!

Kari, I\'m getting a

little lost with your posts sometimes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif It\'s probably just me,

but if you don\'t reply to the post right after it\'s put up, would you mind using the quote so we know which

post you\'re responding to?

Thanks. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

\"would you mind using the

quote so we know which post you\'re responding to?\"

And perhaps (everyone) if it is a long post only quoteing

the relevent part, not the whole post? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

To be truthful, I wasn\'t aiming at you, but this was a convient place to mention the thing about

quoting long posts to (everyone)!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

yet?

Elana

No

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif but I just got my shipping notice. It is coming USPS which is

unusual for Amazon.

I have so many things coming. I have the book, the huge order of oils, the nebulizer and also

a set of blended EO\'s that I got for super cheap from ebay. These are the blends I am

getting...

My stuff from

amazon.com usually comes USPS. How do you usually get things?

The KS EO\'s look like fun.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Maybe once you

get all your EO\'s, you can figure out what\'s in the blends. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I know! I hope they list the

oils. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I usually don\'t order books from Amazon because I am

frequently at Barnes and Noble. I get larger items from Amazon and they always come UPS.

Essential Oil Counter & Surface Cleaner

7oz. Distilled water
1oz. Alcohol (vodka will work, as will

Everclear)
1/2-tsp. Sweet Orange EO (smells great, cuts grease and oil)
1/4-tsp. Lemon Eucalyptus EO (smells

great, antibacterial - may kill staph, may keep bugs away)
1/4-tsp.Tea Tree (antiviral, antibacterial, fungicidal)

Boil the water for several minutes, then remove from heat and allow to cool with the lid on the pot. Meanwhile,

dissolve the EOs in the alcohol and pour into a spray bottle. When the water is room temperature, add it to the

bottle with the alcohol and EOs. Spray and use as you would any other surface cleaner, i.e. spray and wipe. Shake

before use.

Without the tea tree, this also makes a freshening room spray! Just put it in a bottle with a mister

pump top instead of a spray bottle. (The difference between those two tops is the difference between, for example, a

bottle of Windex and a non-aerosol pump hairspray).

I just added a

few drops of Chamomile EO to my hair gel and blow dried. OMG! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

My hair looks amazing. It is so bright and shiny and smells so pretty.

DO IT!
