DZorro,
Well, there are tons of littres here in Sweden, even in local stores, colognes, aftershaves, etc. I will try to find something for You.
Othervice, take couple of days off, come here! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
BTW, Duty Free stores! take a trip to, say, Germany..
Aqua di Gio cost abo. 30 USdollars for a small bottle.
Polo Blue has a similar fresh smell, but not so citrus.

All of these \"clones\" are oil based so the scent should last longer than the typical alcohol based cologne. I haven\'t tried them yet personally, I\'ve got an order on the way. But they were highly recommended by a friend.

It says on the oils website : \" Adding alcohol gives the impression that the perfume is considerably stronger than it actually is. That is why, when you first put on a commercial fragrance, the aroma may sometimes seem overwhelming to those around you \" Well, isn\'t that you want if you are trying to meet someone, don\'t you want a good first impression? It says they fade away, but who cares if you are just trying to pick up girls. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

\"Designer brand perfumes and colognes consist of 15%-30% concentrated fragrance oil compound and 75%-85% alcohol & water. Alcohol will make the oil evaporate 10-15 times more quickly and will also dry out your skin. Adding alcohol gives the impression that the perfume is considerably stronger than it actually is. That is why, when you first put on a commercial fragrance, the aroma may sometimes seem overwhelming to those around you and then the scent fades dramatically within two hours.\"
Manchorito-
If you want to mix up your own cologne, then the above can give you some guidelines for mixing the oils w/ alcohol and/or water. And you can do it for a fraction of the cost of a commercial cologne.
I figured that, at least, it\'s a lead for our friend in the Netherlands who can\'t find Aqua di Gio and I\'m curious to check them out myself. There is a fragrance they carry which I can\'t find on the market anymore...it was replaced w/ a \"new and improved\" version that I think really sucks. So at least I can stock up on the \"clone\", if it turns out to be a good product.

Let us know how it turns out Sag. I\'ve seen numerous websites that offer these \"oil-based\" fragrances of popular colognes and have been interested in trying some out myself.

Yea, I\'ve run across that kinda stuff before, but never purchased anything. I decided to give this one a try since a friend recommended it. I placed a small order and if it turns out to be good, I\'ll likey reorder. It seems that, w/ thechnology today, it shouldn\'t be too hard to analyze and duplicate a fragrance. We\'ll see. If this stuff is good, it\'s a helluva deal! Ya know, sometimes a good deal really is a good deal.

They sell it at Douglas and Ici Paris XL. In both stores it\'s nr. 2 in the scent top 10. Price of the 50ml eau de toilette at Ici Paris XL is 41.50 euro. Sagacious1420,
There\'s a nice little chart at the bottom of the page linked below that I\'ve found helpful in converting fragrance oils into sprayable and mixable eau de toilette strength products:
http://www.fragrancesupplies.com/mak_per.htm#Formulation%20Table (\"http://www.fragrancesupplies.com/mak_per.htm#Formulation%20Table\")
Bear in mind that these numbers should be used as guidelines, since there are differing concentrations of scent between fragrance oils and essential oils. A true essential oil will be far more concentrated than a fragrance oil, and different brands of fragrance oils or perfume oils will also likely have different concentration levels.
There isn\'t any \"Back to home page\" link on that page, so here\'s the source:
http://www.fragrancesupplies.com/ (\"http://www.fragrancesupplies.com/\")
P.S. On the first link there is a quote at the bottom from Annette Green of the Fragrance Foundation that many of our fragrance ODers would probably find interesting.

Sag1420,
I\'ve never actually purchased anything from that site. In fact the prices for some things such as Mysore Sandalwood look a bit suspect. $96 for 4 ozs. of the genuine article sounds too good to be true, and you know what that usually means. Hi
all!
Not so long ago I thought it is important to wear the same cologne most of the time, or at least the same
cologne for similar occations/time of day when I meet the same people. The reason is a kind of \'corporate
identity\'. Also my (ex) gf only liking me with the cologne I was wearing when our relationship started etc. I
thought I am confusing people when I wear different scents around the same people. Those of my friends who mostly
wear the same cologne, I can detect them when they enter the room, stand behind me etc. without looking at them. I
can even sometimes smell when they were in a room and left before I arrived (that is when they OD on the cologne of
cause...). Aren\'t this good reasons to stick to one cologne?
Or is rotation the way to go? I don\'t wear the
same clothes every day and I am still me, still have my \'corporate identity\', face, voice, body language,
personality. It\'s like McDonalds not sacrificing a single piece of their strong identity by rotating different
promotions all of the time...?
I would appreciate any thoughts on this!

What you say about \'corporate identity\' makes sense, Sunny, but think of it from another way. If you wear
different scents on different days for whatever reason (mood, whim, a rigidly structured rotation schedule) then
people will:
1) not necessarily know your whereabouts at all times (This could make it easier to sneak from room
to room if needed.)
2) possibly pay more attention to your scent, as your yumminess may change from day to
day
3) comment on the ones they like more than others, so that perhaps you will wear their favorite more often
than the one they can\'t stand.
So there are advantages to both ways.
I used to be like you and think I
needed to wear the same scent all the time. But really, do you ALWAYS feel like wearing the same scent? I certainly
don\'t. I also found that I get really tired of a particular scent if I wear it all the time. I like variety. I
also found I like when people tell me if I smell really good. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
One more comment. I do wear a variety of scents, but I always pick something that is \'me\'. As a result,
I\'ve had guy friends come to me after going places and tell me they found a flower whose scent smelled very
\'me\', or they smelled a perfume I might like because it was \'me\'. And I like that.

I agree, but, and this is JMHO....when you first meet a person that you
are interested in keep the same scent until you have been seeing each other for a bit and then you can start mixing
it up. Let her notice the difference and see what she says. She may want you to go back to the original or she may
love the \"mix it up\" thing.
When you are interested in a guy/girl, their scent becomes this huge turn on
even when they aren\'t around. I would find myself in a department store getting samples of his cologne to sniff
on and get that rush of \"him.\" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

What
I\'ve done with my colognes is break them down into seasonal selections (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter), with each
season having a casual and a formal scent. Casual scents are more simplistic, where formal scents are deeper and
more complex.
Wearing a cologne is like wearing clothes. You got to find something that works for you and your
personality and is appropriate for the atmosphere (when/where).
Having a signature cologne is fine and dandy.
But having at least one for each season allows you to fit into the overall scheme a bit better while still
maintaining an olafactory recognition.
Sunny
10-23-2003, 11:58 AM
Sexyredhead,
no I don\'t feel like wearing the same scent all of the time, especially not since I am into the
whole pheromones and scents thing. I was wearing Hugo for about 3 months and got so tired of it. Just couldn\'t
stand it any more. Now I also like wearing special scents for special occations.
Your point of sneaking from room
to room is interesting... wonder what you are doing there? lol
One good reason for frequent changes of a cologne
is that it creates attention. People are unconsciously forced to update the image / scent signature of me which they
have in their mind. I imagine that this brings me more to their attention, ideally this does not work
consciously.
The biggest problem is finding scents that really are \"me\". I only found few so far and I still
feel I am at the beginning of learning to use my nose consciously. I feel like an illiterate person scentwise.
It\'s like I see all the letters, words, pages, books... I just gaze at them but can not make much sense...
yet...
I smell and new scent and all I can say \"yes, this is how it smells\". I mean I get the signals in my
brain but have not yet learned to analyze them.
Elana, that\'s what I mean! It\'s a good idea to use a
specific scent to create association and binding in a relationship.
This brings an other idea to my mind:
Anchoring emotions to scents! I wonder if it would make sense to always and only use a specific scent when sex is
involved (I am not talking about pheromones here). Once the anchor is in place (if my limited understanding of NLP
is right?) you can induce sex by wearing the scent...

Your notion of
anchoring reminds me of an experience I had. I had been madly in love with a woman but we broke up under
unfortunate and emotionally trying conditions. She always wore \"Allure.\"
I happened to buy my next
girlfriend some Allure some months later. When she first put it own and I smelled it on her, I literally swooned.
I was weak in the knees and overcome with longing for my old girlfriend. My new girlfriend noticed my reaction and
asked what happened. I, like a fool, told her.
Suddenly, I was out TWO girlfriends. The emotional links with
smell are incredibly strong and can be overpowering. I bet I\'d be susceptable to that scent today, years
later.
The take-home advice I\'d give is to be consistent with your aroma with a new girlfriend. That way you
build an association. Later when she\'s getting boring, give her some new scent and start wearing something new
yourself. That could re-invigorate a relationship.

wow what a terrible yet interesting experience. Thank you for sharing!
The idea of re-invigorating a relationship
with a new scent may work, but it may backfire. My ex gf just recently told me she that would never have started a
relationship with me if I had been wearing all those new scents (which I wear now) at that time. She told me that
the scent I was wearing when we started dating, played an important role for her. That was 6 years ago -- I was
wearing a cheap deo!

well, you can't really go by
what one person recommends. what you need to do is go to a store, spray a couple you like. walk around for about
15 mins, then smell it. that way something that smells good in the bottle doesn't smell like a cat pissed on you
after a few mins :)
