One day, a woodcutter was cutting a branch of a tree above a river and his ax fell into the river. When he cried out suddenly, the Lord appeared and asked, \"My Son, why are you crying?\" The woodcutter replied that his ax had fallen into water. The Lord went down into the water and reappeared with an ax of gold inquring, \" Is this your ax?\"

The woodcutter replied, \"Nope.\"

The Lord again went down into the water and came up with a shiny silver ax. \"Hey kiddo, is this your ax?\" the Lord asked.

Again, the woodcutter replied, \"It looks pretty good, but no it\'s not mine.\"

The Lord went down again and came up with an iron ax and said, \"Okay, maybe this one is yours?\"

The woodcutter with a broad smile replied,\" You Bet\'cher Boots ...that be it.\"

The Lord was pleased with the man\'s honesty and gave him all three axes. The woodcutter went home happily.

A few days later while the woodcutter was walking with his wife along the riverbank, his wife fell into the river and he cried out. Shazam...the Lord appeared once again and asked him, \"My Son, why are you crying?\"

\"Oh Lord, my ol\' lady has fallen into the river, and she can\'t swim a lick.\"

The Lord went down into the water and came up with Jennifer Lopez and asked the woodcutter \"Is this your wife?\" A few seconds passed and finally the woodcutter stammered...\"Ohhh Lordy, you betcha.\" The Lord was shocked & became furious and bellowed...\"You cheat! That is a low down dirty lie!\"

The woodcutter was surprised and replied, \"Oops...well forgive me, Lord. Maybe it was a misunderstanding on my part. Yunno, I figured if I said \'NO\' to Jennifer Lopez, You would have come up with Catherine Zeta-Jones. Then again if I said \'NO\' to her, You would have gone and come up with my ol\' lady, then I would have had to say \'You Betcha\' and then all three of those hussies would be given to me. Ya gotta understand Lord, I am a poor man and there would be no way I could take care of those 3 women. So, that\'s why I said \'YES\' to the first choice.\"

The moral of this story is:

Whenever a man lies, it is always for an honorable and useful reason.
