Folks,
Is anybody getting spam email ads concerning pheromones to the address you use for this forum with the subject containing:
\".... I think you will like this website\"

I got a message from a forum member suggesting a spammer might be using a forum membership to collect addresses by hand.

Let me know if you get anything like this.

Thanks,
Bruce

(BTW, with that post you made it to a \"Phero Maniac\" Bruce ..)

Thanks Franki,

Well, unless they are using PMs, there is no need to find out who it is. Anyone getting spam caused by dredging through this forum can do a world of good for everyone by doing the following:
1. Set your email program to show \"full headers\"
2. Forward the entire spam email (including full headers) to:
abuse@valueweb.net (\"abuse@valueweb.net\")
3. Put a little note at the top saying you are getting spam email from one of their clients and asking them to please stop it.

If you get any suspicious PMs, notify any of the moderators.

Thanks!
Bruce

I got one from \"a little cutie\". Subject: I think you\'re going to like this.

Guaranteed lowest price on AE. I deleted it

Exit,
That\'s the one. If you get any more, forward them with headers to the abuse folks.
Thanks,
Bruce

I posted my email address on my profile and within a couple of days that address was used for that very message you mentioned. Needless to say , because of it I removed my email address.

I have been getting an OUTRAGEOUS amount of spam lately - I clear out my bulk mail folder and 10 minutes later (no exaggeration) there are 50 emails in there, lots tho about penis enlargement and male type stuff. I figure it is because I clicked on sites that the guys referred to and they\'re spamming me. ... It\'s a nuisance to pay for mailbox storage and have it filled up with nuisance emails, tho.

Your using Yahoo mail. Included with it are blocking options you can use to stop a majority of the trash that comes through.

I mark it as spam, block it, report it ... I\'ve been doing all that since I\'ve had the account. Doesn\'t help at all unfortunately.

About the only other option is to change your e-mail address. But that\'s a pain in the butt. Who is your service provider and do they provide e-mail? Most ISPs do.

FTr\'s problem is that the ads are asking her to pay for it. That\'s insulting!

That\'s right! I can get all the big dick I want for free!

Seriously, I am starting to get a complex. ...

They\'ve started up with breast enlargement ads, too. 38DD\'s not big enough?? How big are they supposed to be??

It\'s a conspiracy to make me feel inadequate, I swear.

38 DD? I\'d heard that many of the national treasures were in Washington DC.

So when we email it to those people that you mentioned bruce, what do they do with spam emails. (reason why i dont display mine anywhere)

If enough people complain and that\'s only 3-4 real complaints about spam, the host will shut them down. Another thing everybody should be aware of is a group called spam cop (http://www.spamcop.com/). They act as a spam reporting clearing house and advocate group. Reports through them get a lot of attention. Take a look at them sometime.

Its good to see that there are in fact some out there who are combating this menace, i say that these types are scum because they dont ask permission or wait for you to sign up. Ive got 8 spam emails right now that need to be reported that i didnt sign up for. Bruce at least only sends to those people that ask for it and if you ask to be removed he does that to.

If more people would report them and complain the the government, eventually something will get done about the sleazebags
