Please, somebody know something about allergies!

DC is famous for the cherry blossoms and they are so beautiful you can\'t quite believe it, and they smell like heaven ... IF you can BREATHE! OH GOD THE POLLEN COUNT! My eyes are watering and they itch, I\'ve got hives, I swear to you my hair itches, my nose is running (pretty, huh?), I just sneezed twice...

and this is on Claritin D.

There has got to be something else that works...

Go swimming in salt water or just \"irrigate\" with saline.

Ooo, that sounds like it would feel good. Bathe in salt water, maybe. Saline solution up my nose... ugh. Ok.

Try Oralmat. Antihistamines don\'t do anything for me either. Don\'t know if it\'s available where you are, but here\'s a site on it:

http://www.oralmat.co.uk/index.html (\"http://www.oralmat.co.uk/index.html\")

You could always order it in, I suppose.

Bless you!

I read the website. Pretty incredible! I\'ll definitely order this stuff.

Thanks so much!

-Felistin Gel.Apply freely 3 times a day.
-Make a blood test to see if you have an Enzyme deffeciency.
-Back check to what you ate a few hours before, probably something you ate.
- Sometimes it has nothing to do with what you smell around.

Seadove, I\'ve been tested for allergies. I\'m allergic to molds, dust, and the pollens of all the local trees and grasses. Today the pollen count is 9 on a scale of 1-10 for oak and sycamore. If I take enough antihistamines to not have hives, I can hardly stay awake.

Something\'s got to work better than this! The shots didn\'t work. Antihistamines work ok when it\'s not pollen season. The cherry trees actually don\'t bother me -but when they\'re doing their thing, so are the rest of the trees, so they kind of go together in my mind.

There\'s always Vitamin C, but you really have to want it bad. You\'ve got to take it until your digestion gets messed up, either diarrhea or real bad farting. Once you\'re at that point you can ease up.

I use Ester-C. If you do better on low-carb diets try Ester-C. You might decide you\'d rather have a runny nose than a runny anus! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

My digestive system is a marvel. Nothing gives me gas or problems, even, like, cabbage or beans. I take 2,000 mg C every day ... you\'re saying take more? How much are you taking?

Robert Cathcart MD\'s vitamin C site (\"http://www.orthomed.com/\")

Take it to bowel tolerance. When I feel something bad coming I\'ll take 1 gram (1000 mg) every 15 minutes. I have confirmed at least part of what Cathcart says. When you are sick (or your allergies are bad, or whatever) you can tolerate a whole lot more without getting diarrhea than when you are healthy. If I feel a flu coming on I can take 15 grams (not all at once) and I won\'t get the diarrhea.

The point is that the bowel symptoms are the feedback you need to tell you that you\'ve saturated your system with vitamin C. Below the saturation point there often is no good effect.

Adele Davis said that, too, for colds - take 1,000 mg every four hours.

Ok. That\'s worth a try.

You can\'t really prescribe a dosage. You have to keep taking it until you\'ve saturated your system\'s capacity to consume it. One gram every four hours could be too little or too much depending on the severity of what you\'ve got.

I\'m not joking.

Check up if you have a deff. of an enzyme called G6Pd.

Who do I go to for an enzyme check??

seadove
04-25-2003, 12:31 PM
The local doctor.

It\'s a simple blood check.

The answer comes in a week.

Your parents suffered from allergies?

**DONOTDELETE**
04-25-2003, 12:32 PM
Oh, yes.

seadove
04-25-2003, 12:34 PM
Bingo.

You must be also allergic to the Sulpha family?

YES, oh my god, how did you know that? Man, that\'s bad. My tongue swelled up in my mouth so bad I thought I would choke on it and I was SO red. That was horrible. How did you know that?

<hr /></blockquote><font class=\"post\">

Ok, it\'s now given that you \"probably\" have this deffeciency
of one or more enzyme, the most common of them that relate to the protection of allergic effects is \"G6PD\".And since there is nothing you can do about it, you can just \"BE AWARE\" of it.So this blood test is really of no use, since you already know snd suffer from those allergic effects.

Stay away from sulpha drugs, always warn the doctor of this problem so that he can give you alternative medication. There is a list of drugs that you are supposed to refrain from taking, I\'ll look for that list and I\'ll send it to you.

Also. beware of the following:

1. Beans.(stay far away from bean fields where they grow the stuff)
2. Products that contain sesame seeds.
And finally but really not the least, DUST.

I know you\'re gonna say that you are clean and tidy, but since you spend a lot of time next to the computer, did you look behind the pc at home or in the office? This is your worser enemy., the layer of dust there.

Lucky: There is no such thing as an enzyme suppliment. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Remember. this is not a disease.It\'s something you have \"LESS\" of.

And finally, if you wanna get laid don\'t do it on the grass! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif It;s bad for you asthmetic skin.

I dust constantly. At home and at work. I damp dust my entire desk (take everything off or lift everything and dust behind it, etc.) Swiffer. Swiffer Wet. Swiffer Wet Jet.

The symptoms I read about had to do with anemia. I don\'t have the reactions listed for that enzyme deficiency. I am violently allergic to sulfa, but it\'s a systemic histamine reaction. No less dangerous, but it\'s not the same thing. I read upteen sites on this enzyme deficiency and none of them listed a histamine reaction as part of it.

Also, I\'m a very white white girl - no Asian or Meditteraneans on either side of the family. We\'re northern Irish/Scandinavian mix.

So I don\'t know about this hypothesis, Seadove, now that I\'ve done some reading....

Yes, this was the part that had me baffled. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif I was hoping you\'d come back saying you have a Babylonian descend somewhere in your past.

But then what difference does it make to you? You have tried all sorts of supplimentary intakes, vitamins etc, but to no avail.

My advice still stays put: I.E : \"BE AWARE\" and \"REFRAINMENTS\".

Keep well. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
