Has anyone noticed the ad\'s for APC all say dont mix alcohol based pheromones with the apc as it will render the pheromones useless...i know that many people have had great success with JB#1...i notice that i get pretty good hits with alot of apc on, but what is the deal about adding alcohol based products like npa? can anyone with a chemistry background enlighten me on this...?

No chemistry background here but I think this is just a marketing scam.

Its been said before, alcohol is used in the manufacture process its just a marketing and sales scam designed to sell more of their product. For a while APC was one of few oil based products and alcohol was more widespread, its just carried through in the scam advertising. Alcohol based products and oil based products are as effective as each other.

Alcohol is better for clothing application (cotton wool and other natural fibres)
Oil based is better for skin applicaiton.

According to the love-scent FAQ, alcohol doesen\'t kill pheromones, so that is definately a marketing scam.

To start with, APC _is_ made up in alcohol. If you look at the bottle, the medium is a di-glycol, which is just a large, oily alcohol. So their marketing hype isn\'t even internally consistent.

As I discovered over the weekend - even the androstenone in PI can be extracted into EtOH. From what I can gather, andro-steroids do not react with EtOH or IsoOH.
