Hey All;
In another thread Bruce had mentioned in thought a Convention of Sorts for us here on this forum. He had mentioned Laughlin Nevada. 90 miles south of Las Vegas..easy to get to from South Cali or Vegas or PHX. Nice place Colorado River, casinos etc.

Well guys what do you think? Bruce had mentioned possibly in the later part of this year.

Let me know your thoughts. If we were going to do this. I could arrange seminar area and hotel rooms at a discount etc.

Well, I like the idea of meeting with forum members and manufacturers, but it would get a bit costly for me (transatlantic flight etc.). /ubbthreads/images/icons/frown.gif

I\'m in as the Bay Area is a doable one day drive to Laughlin for me. Let\'s let it cool down a bit first - October maybe? Best to time it to coincide with an event that will draw lot\'s of targets - I mean females - maybe a nursing convention?

What\'s the critical mass? I\'d think that we\'ll probably get 30 participants and maybe 4 commercial sponsors. We could advertise a bit more broadly but I\'d doubt that we\'d ever get 100 participants for our first meeting just for pheromones. Maybe that\'s enough as just a social event which is fine with me. It would certainly be a good excuse to get out of town for a few days!!!!

We could add a academic overlay and invite some guest lecturers. We are a users group and have field experience that could compliment research and development efforts. The manufacturers and distributors also can do market research to guide future product development and marketing efforts - so far these areas are pretty unsophisticated. I\'d also get the word out to some biotech venture capitalists as they like to keep on top of technical developments with potential.

You guys in the states could actually make this happen, and the whole thing could be put on the love-scent site as far as details those who would allow their photos up etc. The manufacturers could make representations also james kohl could be interested bruce just make sure that their are no fights (ie none) and make sure the area is well ventalated to ensure proper airflow lol. And invite along the nursing convention lol.

A female modeling convention.

Here\'s an outline of what we could easily pull off. Certainly all are welcome to provide input. We would have to charge a fee to cover the Friday mixer, the presentation conference room, and the banquet - these might run $100 each but I\'m no expert on event planning. Corporate sponsorship to help defray costs is not out of the question. Other meals, lodging and entertainment would be on your own. We would need some umbrella organization to issue invitations, deal with money, count award votes, etc.

Sounds great! I’d love to go out “testing” with fellow forum members.

I’m the type that uses conventions for meeting people, so I don’t care what kind of events are organized (Sorry, but I’d probably skip most of them anyway.)

Since this is an international forum, wouldn’t it be great if we could also set something up for Amsterdam?

Oregon would be nice, selfishly speaking /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif Bruce and I both live there.

Depends on how much it\'s going to cost me (airline ticket, hotel room) and will this be a weekend event. Can we possibly have it near an airport, since some guys have to work Monday?

TCO,
Is there an airport in Loughlin?

Even though I live in Oregon now, personally I would just as soon have a chance to get away from the rain for a little while. NV is more centrally located and has a better winter climate.

I\'m not sure I want pheros going mainstream. If everyone\'s using pheros then there\'s no need for them anymore and we\'re back to square one.

I don\'t think your world will be interrupted Jambat, I feel the majority of people don\'t believe that Pheromones work. If we can get at least 100 people at the convention I say it\'s a success. Now imagine all those people wearing their favorite products and mixes walking around in the hotel lobby or in the same room. Looks like one hell of an experiment.

That would eb a blast, if I could get away from work... No chance of a more technologically-oriented city, such as Pittsburgh, huh? /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif

Personally I think my state will be more convenient(Florida) /ubbthreads/images/icons/smile.gif We have a humongous convention center in Orlando near the airport and hotels. www.orlandoconvention.com/home.asp (\"http://www.orlandoconvention.com/home.asp\") I\'m sure you can get discounts since Florida is looking for business desperately down here.

My vote would be for Laughlin. It\'s pretty convienient for most of the western US at least.

Bruce, there is an airport in Laughlin\'s twin city across the river -- Bullhead city. I know it\'s big enough to handle jets since they have a jet shuttle there from Phoenix. However, Las Vegas is the nearest noteworthy airport. I think Laughlin is like a 1-2 hour drive from there, and there might be some shuttles (either air or bus) that run.

COMDEX, a major computer trade show, operates the week of November 18th, and most airlines have this as a blackout date for freebie trips to vegas. The traffic makes things a general hassle as well.

If you were taking votes, Mine would be for Nov. 8th & 9th. Work commitments would make Nov 1st and 2nd difficult, and anything in late October hard, too. It\'s also still pretty warm in October.

Bad news is I think that the winter rates (higher) start sometime around November. In the heat of summer - September-ish - rates are still dirt cheap... But this is a gambling town, the rooms are practially free anyway!
