Customs has my

order right now and they want me to give them a customs tariff number or they will charge me money for it...

Does

anyone here know what a customs tariff number is?

Customs has never asked me anything of the sort in the past..

I'm not sure what that is myself,

and have never heard of a customer being asked for that before. What country are you in? There is some sort of

uniform code for different types of merchandise. That's all I can think of

I'm in

Malta, which is in the EU.
They told me I have to give them this number or I have to pay Lm 6.. of course I would

prefer to have the number rather than pay for a number..

After a lot of googling,I found

this
"The Tariff (better known as the Combined Nomenclature (CN) is the document which gives a description of the

goods, sets out the HS Codes to be used and gives details of import duty rates applicable. It is Council Regulation

(EEC) No. 2658/87"
and a google for the latter gave me

this:
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=CELEX:31987R2658:en:NOT
Still seems

confusing to me though...
I'll better go to them directly now..
edit: did another google and found this

too
http://www.foreign-trade.com/reference/hscode.htm

Since my order is of pheros concentrate, should

it be under essential oils concentrates?

Good research work there. I would

give them:
330129 Other Essential Oils
It is a mixture of a number of oils

I believe it's the no quoted

above by Bruce.

Anyway usually they (Customs) do it for you themselves.
