Does AE do the same job as SOE with None?

This is a paradox for me. SOE worked great on its own. And it seemed to work well when I used SOE on neck and wrists, combined with a bit of androstenone on my chest (some APC spiked with -none from the chem kit). But AE never worked well unless I ADDED more -none to the mix (TE, PI, or APC).
