There used to be this

absolutely brilliant cable channel called CMT (Country Music Television) which was all music videos of what is, I

believe, termed "New Country" and I just could not get enough of it.

I can still remember back in 2002, WHILE I

WAS WATCHING IT, the announcement that CMT would no longer be broadcast in the UK, and ten seconds later I was

looking at a bloody still picture of a Satellite tower!

To say that I was annoyed, would be the understatement of

the century.. >_<

I tried to watch his first

television special when he rose to popularity to see what he was about. The quick MTv-like cuts they used in the

production were so distracting they put me off and I never really had any interest in him after that.

Country music is huge in

Australia, especially up north, there is a very big festival in Tamworth Qld every year. Country music is often seen

in the southern states of Australia as a bit of a redneck type music. My guess is because its mainly sung by white

people bearing cowboy hats, and people make a false connection that every one that wears a cowboy hat and sings

about Mary Lou, is somehow racist and backwards and non tolerant. Ofcourse this isnt the case. I believe Rap can be

seen just as one sided, if not more so then country music.

I enjoy country music, actually I enjoy anything

artistic and creative.

Im not German, but when im not a full time Aussie, im also a

southern European, sometimes live in a little country just to the right of Italy that invented Democracy and that

discusting drink called OUZO.

Anyhow, if you know what the eurovision contest is, you probably watched it

this year last month, the act representing Germany was called TEXAS LIGHTING, I have never seen such a cliche

country music act ever, mind you the sexy blonde singer is from Newcastle Australia.

Yeah I know about the toilet whirl, I cant help remind myself each time I visit

I would go further and say Australians have thier brain wired opposite. The land is so far from

anyone else on earth that we have developed some pretty quirky behaviour. Like a thong throwing competition (a thong

in Australia looks like a sandle) and a beer gut competition, who has the biggest pot belly from beer. the list goes

on...

Argos is not far from me, just 1 hr or so away, im further south on the peninsula. Alot of history

I spent a year and a half ('80->'81) as an illegal migrant laborer

traveling Europe. I was living with this hot stripper then. Ran into her for the first time in over 20 years a

like you had fun, you should visit Greece once more, the whole of the southern Peloponese is full of English and

Germans and Swedes that have permenantly migrated here, most have bought old style mediteranean stone homes by the

sea that are reletivly cheap, the bars and resturants are full of foriegn women around your age and younger, guess

they got sick of living in the big cities and colder climates.

In fact, your former president doesnt live to

far from here, if Senior Bush likes it, it must be good. I bet he lives in alot of places around the world.
