Guys,

apologies if this has been asked before, but I've spent the last hour searching the forum and can't find the

answer..

I am making up a 5:1 npa:colonge mix in a love-scent atomizer. I would usually apply two dabettes of

npa (without removing the insert) and a couple of sprays of colonge.

My question is : would 2 sprays of the mix

from the atomizer be roughly comparable to my usual application ?

thanks

5 parts NPA to 1 part cologne?

Doesn't that stink?

If that ratio is correct then 2 spays is a LOT.

I use a similar mix and find 4-5

sprays (Weekend/NPA) ideal for daily use. Anymore and you might get a cologne OD. However, it depends on the cologne

and your pheromone signature. Light Summer scents can be used more generously than heavier winter scents. And I can

wear lots of 'none without ill-effects. If I need more NPA--hitting a club or party--I add a few more dabs rather

than additional cologne/NPA mix.

Thanks Gegogi. I've mixed it with

L'Eau D'Issey Pour Homme. Will give it a try tonight.

Yeah, you can be a little more

generous with Issay Miyake without worrying about a cologne OD.

I was just wondering if you just use the

Weekend:NPA mix daily without any other pheromone products? Or do you apply, for example, SOE, A1 (or whatever else)

and then cover it with your Weekend:NPA mix?

Gegogi,

L'eau d'Issey

pour Homme and NPA at 5:1 is probably my all-time favorite mainstream cologne/phero combo.

NPA's usual "attack

and envelop" dynamic, that it seems to exhibit over time in mixes with most other fragrances, seems almost to be

reversed when it's mixed with Issey.
The NPA seems to round out and enhance each of the notes of the fragrance,

and continues to do so even when aged for long periods of time.

I once lost track of a vial of Issey/NPA for a

few months, but when it finally resurfaced it was still a wonderfully fragranced, fully rounded scent.

Another

plus I see for the Issey mix, is that it's a pretty decent "multi-generational" scent. Not too "old" for the young

guys, nor too "young" for us old guys.

One possible negative first impression that I think some guys might get

with straight Issey is the "too sweet" thing. Before dismissing it on this basis, take a bottle of NPA to your local

department store fragrance counter. Put a dab or drop of NPA on the back of one hand, then a spray from the Issey

sampler right over top of it. Swipe the back of the other hand over there, then rub the backs of your hands on your

wrists and neck and smell the magic. A better bouquet will develop with steeping over time, but even immediately

after combing the two the synergy is evident.

It's as though NPA "completes" Issey. Almost a "sex change

operation" degree of metamorphosis. NPA gives Issey "balls", but without turning it into an 800 pound A-None

gorilla.

Other mainstream colognes like Dolce y Gabana combine nicely with NPA too, but I've never done as many

mixes, or as much ageing/steeping with any other scents.

Issey & NPA is just such a natural combination that

I'm almost surprised that the Miyake folks haven't come out with a ballsier version of L'eau d'Issey themselves.

I can't imagine them finding anything that would make it smell any better than NPA does though. I really can't.

That's a really good description,

Oscar. Issey with npa smells very well balanced to me : Issey with balls sums it up really well.

How much of it

do you apply ? I wore three sprays this evening. Feels about right.

toby,

I estimate that most spray

heads deliver between three and four drops per spray.
I consider one drop of NPA to be my ideal dose, so two

sprays is what I use.
If two sprays amounts to six drops, with a 5:1 mix, five of those six drops would be cologne,

and the sixth would be NPA.
