View Full Version : Wellness water filter vs Water ionizer?

I bought a water ionizer at home in norway and like it.

I recently came to Australia and then

realized that the tap water I had in Norway actually was great compared to the water I get here in brisbane - it

taste chlorine...

So talking with a guy at school he said that the welness filter is supposed to even better

than water ionizers...

I'm gonna be here in australia for quite a few years, so investing in my tap water

seems like a good idea.. So would you recommend getting a wellness filter or a water ionizer?

I'm new to

water ionizers and have no experience what so ever with wellness filters. I feel my water ionizer hasn't gotten a

good test either - since the water there is pretty good already..

So if you have experience with water

cleaners/optimizers please give me your feedback :)

Thanks

In Korea where water ionizers are

common and water quality is poor, a dual filtration system is always used, one for cleaning the water and another

for ionization. Water ionizers also filter but will quickly be overwhelmed if the water is really bad. You must

realized the main purpose of a water ionizer is to change acid and neutrual ph water to high alkaline ph. The

filtration is a mere side feature.

Of course you should drink water which is clean and free of biological and

chemical comtaminates. However, ionized water has health benefits far beyond merely clean water. If water quality is

poor, I suggest installation of a heavy duty filtration system for all household use, including showers. Keep the

the ionizer and use it to provide the health benefits it was designed to deliver.

As you get older, the

benefits of drinking ionized water become increasingly vivid and apparent. If you don't believe me, stop drinking

ionized water. Resume after a month and you'll appreciate the difference after only a few days. Clean water is good

but clean ionized water is much better.

If the Australian water supply is decent but is merely heavy with

chlorine, you can probably get away with only the ionizer. The activated charcoal will remove the chlorine just

fine, but the filter may need to be changed more frequently than recommended. When the filter is full, the water

will taste bad or even stink if you let it go too long. A dirty or old filter is worse than straight tap water.

Okei

The thing is that

I don't have my water ionizer with me to australia (I let it stay home with my parents cause I knew they would

never go to the step of buying one themselves..)

So the plan has been to buy a water ionizer to have here

down under, but then suddenly someone said that wellness filters were suppose to be better - so since he compared

them like that I presumed he meant that wellness filters had the same impact on the water so to speak..

But

if the water ionizer will remove the chlorine from the water I will buy a water ionizer as I liked having one at

home :)

You don't happen to know about any distributors in Australia?
..Or will I have to order from the

states again?

Thanks,

The Viking

WOW!

The microlite has

gone up it price drastically since I bought my last one :s

Anyone know why the price has gone up so much?

Anyone know why the price

has gone up so much?

About 6 months ago the manufacture, Dong Yang Science (Royal Water), raised

prices about 10% across the board. However, shipping costs from Korea to the USA increased 50% during the same time!

It actually costs $300 to ship 4 ionizers via DHL (Dong Yang's fav carrier). Last year it was $200. Fuel costs,

hazmat fees, etc., are out of control. During the last couple years our freight charges have nearly doubled--USPS,

UPS, Matson--everything has gone through the roof.

Whoa, Nellie. Here is an

interesting web site about water ionization from a

chemist.
"Ionized" and alkaline water:

HMMM, What do you think about that.

It appears Stephen Lower

has not actually had any experience with water ionizers. He has no personal observations based on experience or

testing. Instead, used his own brand of peudso science to seduce the unwavy and dull. His statement:

If the water is pure enough to be potable, the amount of electrolysis that actually occurs is too small to be

significant. It only takes a few sceconds with a pH test kit to determine whether or not the water produced

is indeed alkaline. The tap water in Honolulu is about pH 7.5, slightly alkaline. I've tested pH with both chemical

based kits (water changes various colors to indicate pH) and electronic sensors (Edmund Scientific). My Royal Water

model 102 tested consistently at pH 10.5 to 11 (it's adjustable according to need). Apparently Prof. Lower was so

skeptical he didn't bother to conduct pH tests of ionized tap water. He says that it can't work. He isn't even

gulity of bad science. He didn't bother to use science.

Moreover, there have been extensive studies and

trials on the health benefits of high alkaline water. Because of these tests, drinking of alkaline water is standard

in Korean medical facilities. Unfortunately, studies I've seen are published in Korean and Japanese. I assume he

considers these studies invalid because he can't read them? Or, more likely, he may believe these studies invalid

because they weren't carried out in the West. His stereotyping of Korean and Japanese culture hints at his

ethnocentric views.

He is correct on one point. Pure water can't be ionizied any significant amount. Water

must contain a small amount of minerals for ionization to work. And nearly all tap water contains enough minerals.

However, if your tap is attached to a mountain snowcap, some ionizer models have provisions for adding minerials

prior to electrolysis.

Now this guy, Vinny, shines a pretty good light

on the subject. At least it has me thinking and I always feel that thinking is better than the alternative.
