I have an eclectic taste in music. I often buy it on a whim, a lot of hit and
miss, but I often come up with good obscure stuff too. Stumbling upon a review of "The Best of Paolo Conte" CD at
Amazon.com, I decided to buy a discounted copy through one of their marketplace vendors. This guy plays sort of a
jazz piano style but doesn't sing as much as talk, in sort of a Maurice Chevalier or Tom Waits way, all in Italian.
I can't understand what he says but his music is growing on me with just my first listening. Luckily, the lyrics
are printed in the CD's booklet, along with English translations.
I just wanted to share this line from his
song, "Boogie":
Da lei saliva afrore di coloniali che giungevano a lui come da una di quelle drogherie
di una volta.
Translation:
Her pungent odor beckoned him like an old-fashioned
grocery.
The woman in the song must have some interesting pheromones!
