Well the gentleman is very right on the Musk Oil thing. True Musk Oil is derived from the Musk Glands of the good ole Musk Ox and sometimes-other yak/Oxen types. But synthetic musk oils have been around for years. Almost all your commercial fragrances use the synthetic types. As far as the type of different musk oils they are synth musk oils with other additives to make them unique. So it is really not a new revelation but one worth noting non-the-less. Also please note. That raw undiluted musk oil is very very very odiferous. I mean the stuff smells nasty. Go to the zoo on a good ole warm day and get up next to the Musk Ox pen with a bull male near and you will see what I mean. And each animal has his own smell (pheros?) and rubs his glands and trees and soil to mark his turf.

We\'ve seen some postings here about various \"musk\" scents - Arabian, Egyptian, etc. The following link says they are all artificailly made and that the world\'s legal production of true musk oil is limited by international treaty to 700 lb per year.

This is not to say that commercial musk is to avoided, just that what you get is highly variable. Perhaps we could find the \"best\" source of the most potent brand.
