View Full Version : Question Regarding Mixing Mone's With Essential Oils...

Hi guys,
Im new to the forum. I've just bought 0.5grams of Nol and 0.5grams of None and
10grams of Rone for some fun to experiement with Mones.
I needed some advice first...
1. Can the mones be
mixed into a pure essential oil? for example a 10ml Bottle of pure Lemon/Orange Essential Oil?
2. How good will
it mix into a pure EO? Will it dissolve instantly? If not, how long will it take.
If it doesn't dissolve in
Essential Oils effeficiently would it be ok to dissolve the Mone's i want into some Isoprop and then put the
Isoprop with the mones into my bottle of the Essential Oil, would that work?
I would really appreciate if people
can answer my questions, im a newbie.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

This is probably one for
DrSmellThis to answer ... when I was really big-time into EOs, I would mix a drop or two in some jojoba oil and then
add mones, I never tried adding mones into the original EO container ...

You want to add at least 1ml
of everclear grain alcohol (ethanol) to each mg dry pheromones. I don't know how long it would take to dissolve
completely. May be a couple weeks or something. I'm just now experimenting with it myself. But you can't expect
them to dissolve in straight EO's. You can mix in EO's to taste after it's dissolved completely in the ethanol.

Hello,
where do you get the
dry mones?

Various -mone manufacturing
chemical houses sell them, but they're not marketed on a retail basis.

DrSmellThis:
thanks for
the advice regarding dissolving it. If i mix my mones with some Isoprop (Everclear isn't available here) how long
will that take to dissolve? Can i not use my mone EO the next day or isn't that enough time for it to dissolve?

No not really, if i
can get the mones to work i will sell them locally, i dont plan to setup a website on the Internet or anything, im
just looking to experiment with different dosages and find a good mixture that will give alot of hits.

How much did that cost ya?

How soluble are mones in
Isoprop? Does anybody know? Does anybody know long it takes for it to be dissolved into Isoprop completely?
Thanks!

As I said in PM's, I really
can't condone using isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol. But if you want to take $5000.00 worth of pheromones
and ruin them be my guest. If you were serious you'd have the patience to at least find denatured perfuming
alcohol, regardless of whether they sold grain alcohol in your town.

Thanks for the great advice
DrSmellThis, im just experimenting right now with the Isoprop, i dont plan on using it as i've not had any good
feedback on using this to dissolve the mones.
Is grain alcohol also called Ethanol? Should i buy Ethanol to use
for dissolving the mones you reckon?
what is the difference between mones
in crystal form vs. disolved form (at moleculear level)

what is the
difference between mones in crystal form vs. disolved form (at moleculear level)Presumably it's in the
arrangement of molecules and the bonds among them.
Anything more specific, doc or the
chemists out there?

Nothing different chemically,
it's just the arrangement of the molecules (like when you dissolve salt in water). If you get crystalline anything,
you are pretty much guarranteed to to a 100% pure sample, simply because impurities will not crystalise with the
rest of it.
Correct me if I'm wrong, it's a while since I did chemistry.
edit: impurities will not be present
in the crystals, but they could be mixed in between them.

I'm not really the person to
ask. Molecules are arranged geometrically in crystalline form. There are different geometries for different
crystals, depending in part on the shape of the composite molecules and what other energies might be present.
Relatively weak electromagnetic forces hold them that way, IIRC.

Perfect timing, my physics class
just started solid-state physics this week.
Everything Cpt and Doc says is correct. In my research group, we
recrystallize stuff out of solution as a purification method.
Molecular crystals are bound together by weak
electric dipole moments. These bonds are much weaker than the bonds that hold together an ionic crystal like salt,
or a covalent crystal like a diamond, so molecular crystals should melt and dissolve more easily.
The molecules
themselves are unchanged, they're just extremely well organized in a solid crystal.
To Wiltered,
Can't you
get ethanol at the same place you bought your pheromones? I would bet that ethanol from a chemical supplier is much
cleaner than everclear. You'll have to ask DrSmellThis is there's a reeason everclear might be better then
ethanol.

electromagnetic forces hold them that way, IIRC.
Sorry to split hairs, but they are electrostatic forces
rather than electromagnetic.

Ok ... i've done some
research and rang up quite alot of Chemical companies in England in UK ... i've found one that seems decent priced.
They're selling Denatured Ethanol, its denatured by 5% Methanol, is this ok?
For mixing in with the Pheromones
is it ok to buy this, its 1Litre, 95% Ethanol and 5% Methanol?
Can anybody please advice me on this and wether
it's ok. Thanks very much, you've all been very helpful on this board :)

:)I think Doc can tell you more about this - but I wouldn't rub methanol on my skin, even at 5%. IIRC, the
alcohol used in perfuming is denatured by putting something in it to make it too bitter to drink, not by adding
poison.

Thanks Bass, helpful info.
Thats what i was thinking about is well, it sounds toxic to put that onto your skin.
Im just having a hard-time
finding a supplier for Ethanol. Oh well, maybe i have to look again n harder. Thanks for your input.
