I will miss Rodney dearly. He

was a fave of mine. I loved Caddyshack and Back to School, and am glad he finally attained the pop hero status he so

richly deserved. I've been to Dangerfield's Comedy Club hoping to see him, but didn't. Still -- a great place.

What a great stand-up comedian. Off stage he was the most confident person you'd ever want to meet, despite his

stage persona.

Rodney lines I remember from many years ago:

"My parents had three kids -- one of each."

"No respect. My wife likes to talk to me during sex. Last night she called from a motel."

To a heckler:
"Save

your breath. You'll need it to blow up your inflatable date."

And to an audience member, during Q &

A:
"Rodney, do you find it hard getting up in the morning?"
"...Lady, at my age I'm lucky if I can find it in the

morning."

"I tell ya', I'm getting old. The doctor told me if I take really good care of myself, exercise, eat

and drink all the right things from here on out, I'll get very sick and die."

And finally, just before the

recent heart surgery he never woke up from, telling people not to worry:
"If things go well, I'll be out in six

or seven hours. If not, I'll be out in an hour and a half."

I saw him about 2 years ago at

a comedy club in LA. Wow, it was a true honor. I was about 8 feet from him on stage and he passed about 4 feet

from me. He was testing out new material. You could see his age and health was getting to him. He looked like he

had just rolled out of bed, sounded a little weak, and was a lot paler than he used to be. That said, he pulls out

a sheet of paper with his most recent jokes and reads them off for practice. My dad said he was getting old and

losing it...even said he wasn't that funny. Well, besides the fact that he was testing new material and looked

like he could fall over at any moment, the man is legendary. I remember replying, "The man is a legend.

*Ironically* Give the man a little respect!" ;)

"This is the worst-looking hat I ever

saw; I'll bet you buy a hat like that you get a free bowl of soup... [sees Judge Smails in the same hat] it looks

good on you, though..." *rolls his eyes as he turns his head*

I could tell that my parents

hated me. My bath toys were a toaster and a radio. -- Rodney Dangerfield

My wife is always trying to get

rid of me. The other day she told me to put the garbage out. I said to her I already did. She told me to
go and

keep an eye on it. - Rodney Dangerfield :box:
