Can

someone please explain why with some women alcohol acts as a potent aphrodisiac?
Is there a chemical reaction in

the brain, or other factors?
I’m interested because of past experience with this fascinating phenomenon.

Other factors. Alcohol affects your

judgement, lowering your inhibitions. They call it "liquid courage" for a reason, ya know. With diminished

inhibitions, women (and men, as if we need the excuse) are able to be more free with their desires without

necessarily considering the consequences.

Some recent studies have shown

that women are more susceptible to alcohol's inducements than men. That is, it takes less alcohol for a woman to

achieve a state of drunkenness than for a man of similar body mass. A woman's brain chemistry is different enough

from a man's that the alcohol has a stronger effect on her.

Of course, just about any fraternity boy could

confirm that without all the scientific rigmarole.

I seem to recall women lack a

digestive enzyme that breaks alcohol down, hence the brew goes into their system raw. Men have this digestive enzyme

so it takes a bit of the edge off...

Isn't it also possible

that a woman who has had a few drinks might be more open to sex since she can later say "well, I wouldn't have done

it but I was a tad drunk"?

I've seen a Jeckle and Hyde effect,

I mean a total personality change.
You would have to see it to believe it.

Same

here. A pretty nice person until she (or he) gets some alcohol in them. Then they become raging idiots.

it's largely the amount of water in the body. Men typically weigh more, and they have a higher percent of water

than women. Hence, each drink is diluted more in a man's body than in a woman's.

When I think I've had too much I always drink water.
Alcohol also dehydrates the

body.
I think I’ll go to Austin (U of T) and do some research next weekend.

That's not restricted to women

though

I'm constantly finding Holmes on park benches in a pool of his own vomit.

Wasn't

that what that movie "Blind Date" was about? :)

Alcohol is good for denial and

repression.

just remember alcohol works

on men just as well as women.

just

remember alcohol works on men just as well as women.
But the point is that women are more susceptible to

alcohol's effects than men are. I think it is better to say that men can abuse alcohol just as easily as women do,

and perhaps more men abuse it than women. I don't know.

But women, especially young women, really put

themselves at risk when they drink to get drunk around men.

The difference is if a

women is with a severly drunk man she will try to get him to sleep it off not screw his brains out. Women get drunk

and there are 50 guys waiting in line trying to get in their pants, its a male predatory phenomenome, we are all

dogs when it comes to bar close and getting some. Sure some guys will claim they don't do it but they have thought

about it for sure. I think a drunk women is a signal to a guy that she is going to be easy to get in the sack.

Yes. Some guys do get that

desperate. It's a sad fact of life. Not a whole lot we can do about it.
