I always thought my pc was abit
slow lately, so i see ad-aware has been updated to 1.81 and it found 28 spy warez on my pc. I usually use spy-bot
ore other spyremover programms.
But this new Ad-Aware 6.0 1.81 build works even better to remove
spyware.

My computer freezes up a
lot, I think it\'s some kind of virus...will this help? The computer people told me they\'d charge me 125.00 to
reformat my hard drive and reload Windows 98. Understand, I\'m not a computer wiz.
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Thanks for any help from anyone.

You
should have a \"System Recovery or Restore\" disk when you got your machine...Just put it in your drive &
follow the prompts...Just make sure anything you want to save resides on the D drive. It wont affect the D drive
but everything else will return to the original default settings, so you have to put everything back to the way you
want it. $125.00 thats a rip! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

With Windows 98, the rule of
thumb is: \"once a year, reformat and reinstall\". The basic reason is the Registry gets bloted.

Don\'t you lose files on your hard drive when you do that?
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif I\'ve been using Windows ME for a few years now but have
never done a reformat/reinstall. My system crashes/freezes all the time. Hell, I tried to download the Ad-ware
program (again) and that window is frozen (again), even as I\'m typing this. What\'s up w/ that?

\"Don\'t you lose files on
your hard drive when you do that?\"
You\'ll need to copy the DATA files to seperate media (Floppy (s) , ZIP
etc). Don\'t bother with the PROGRAM files, you\'ll need to reinstall those from the original disks.
\"
I\'ve been using Windows ME for a few years now but have never done a reformat/reinstall. My system
crashes/freezes all the time. Hell,\"
Windows ME? I\'m sorry to hear that
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
Micro$oft seems to go \"Good OS, Bad OS, Good OS etc.\", Windows
98 was OK, then came \"ME\", and 2000 was OK. Given a choice I\'d go either 98 or (better yet-if you have the
hardware to run it) 2000. PS--XP is (to me) the \"ME\" of the Windows2000 series.
\"I tried to download the
Ad-ware program (again) and that window is frozen (again), even as I\'m typing this. What\'s up w/
that?\"
If a format/install doesn\'t help, there could be a hardware problem.

No a virus
and spyware are two diffrent things.
Spyware is mostly used too see what you are doing with your pc on the
internet, it could also be used to do harmfull things to your pc like, password stealing, id stealling.
But
there are still similarities between spyware and virusses that\'s why people mostly thinks it\'s the same thing,
but it isn\'t, virusses could be used for harmfull things to your pc, like formatting your harddrive, corrupt your
files on your pc.
But mostly virusses are more harmfull then spyware, but spyware could slow your pc down
signifigantly.

hi
MOBLEYC57, If your computer freezes up alot you probebly have a virus on your pc, and ad-aware would not work for
that you need an antivurs software to get rit of those.
You would probebly be better of downloading a programm
like mcafee antivirus software. Goto www.mcaffee.com (\"http://www.mcaffee.com\") and download a free
trial software.
Then install it on your pc and then let it scan your pc.
Before downloading it is best to
mcaffee scan your pc online for free it can already see if your pc is infected or not, and wil take proper measures
to help you get a clean pc, without virusses.
Hopes this helps you out.
