Human pheromones – Androstenol
There are now two types of this compound that are used in pheromone products, the alpha and beta isomers, each producing slightly different effects. The alpha and beta have nothing to do with the pheromone projecting an alpha aura. Both seem to cause chattiness and friendliness.
alpha-Androstenol (5alpha-androst-16-en-3-ol)
The alpha isomer of Androstenol creates a friendly approachably impression, and can make the wearer seem less intimidating and more approachable. It seems to be more of a neurotic chatty pheromone than the beta isomer, touching more on empathy and romantic feelings. Androstenol also creates an aura of youth and health, which can help to create an impression of reproductive fitness, which is attractive.
The primary reported response to Androstenol or Androstenol containing products has been an increase in chattiness and friendliness from both sexes, but as mentioned above it can increase sexual attractiveness as well. It has been referred to as an “ice-breaker” pheromone.
An over dose (OD) of Androstenol can cause:
- Headaches
- A feeling akin to a kind of drunken tiredness
- An impression of weakness. In other words, making you appear a lot less alpha
Pheromone products that contain alpha-androstenol:
Scent of Eros – SOE (men’s version)
Alter Ego – AE (men’s and women’s versions)
Perfect 10 – (men’s and women’s versions)
beta-Androstenol
This pheromone is only available as a chemistry set pheromone for experimentation, but it may be in some products as one of the undisclosed “secret ingredients”.
Not much is known about this pheromone because of it’s limited availability, but some users report that it is less playful than the alpha isomer, but that it is good for inducing conversations on a larger social scale. It seems as though it’s primary use is to enhance alpha-androstenol, adding extra amounts of friendliness and comfort.
It is not yet known what an OD of beta-androstenol causes.
The only product that contains beta-androstenol is the beta-androstenol chemistry set bottle
